³ He is the radiance of the glory of God and ^(A)the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. ^(B)After making purification for sins, ^(C)he sat down ^(D)at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

¹³ And to which of the angels has he ever said,

⁶ as he says also in another place,

¹⁰ being designated by God a high priest ^(A)after the order of Melchizedek.

²⁰ where Jesus has gone ^(A)as a forerunner on our behalf, ^(B)having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

Jesus Compared to Melchizedek

^11 (A)Now if perfection had been attainable through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need would there have been for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one named after the order of Aaron?

¹⁵ This becomes even more evident when another priest arises in the likeness of Melchizedek,

¹⁷ For it is witnessed of him,

²¹ but this one was made a priest with an oath by the one who said to him:
