22 In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood,(A) and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.(B)

23 It was necessary, then, for the copies(C) of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one;(D) he entered heaven itself,(E) now to appear for us in God’s presence.(F) 25 Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place(G) every year with blood that is not his own.(H) 26 Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world.(I) But he has appeared(J) once for all(K) at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.(L)

Greatness of Christ’s Sacrifice

23 Therefore it was necessary that (B)the copies of the things in the heavens should be [c]purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For (C)Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are [d]copies of (D)the true, but into heaven itself, now (E)to appear in the presence of God for us; 25 not that He should offer Himself often, as (F)the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another— 26 He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

22 And (A)almost all things are cleansed with blood, according to the Law, and (B)without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

23 Therefore it was necessary for the (C)copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these things, but (D)the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ (E)did not enter a holy place made by hands, a mere copy of (F)the true one, but into (G)heaven itself, now (H)to appear in the presence of God for us; 25 nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as (I)the high priest enters (J)the Holy Place (K)year by year with blood that is not his own. 26 Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since (L)the foundation of the world; but now (M)once at (N)the consummation of the ages He has been (O)revealed to put away sin [a](P)by the sacrifice of Himself.

22 In fact, according to the law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.

23 That is why the Tabernacle and everything in it, which were copies of things in heaven, had to be purified by the blood of animals. But the real things in heaven had to be purified with far better sacrifices than the blood of animals.

24 For Christ did not enter into a holy place made with human hands, which was only a copy of the true one in heaven. He entered into heaven itself to appear now before God on our behalf. 25 And he did not enter heaven to offer himself again and again, like the high priest here on earth who enters the Most Holy Place year after year with the blood of an animal. 26 If that had been necessary, Christ would have had to die again and again, ever since the world began. But now, once for all time, he has appeared at the end of the age[a] to remove sin by his own death as a sacrifice.
