But now (A)He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a (B)better covenant, which was established on better promises.

A New Covenant(C)

For if that (D)first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. Because finding fault with them, He says: (E)“Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah

But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant(A) of which he is mediator(B) is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.

For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.(C) But God found fault with the people and said[a]:

“The days are coming, declares the Lord,
    when I will make a new covenant(D)
with the people of Israel
    and with the people of Judah.
