Hebrews 3:10-19
World English Bible
10 Therefore I was displeased with that generation,
and said, ‘They always err in their heart,
but they didn’t know my ways.’
11 As I swore in my wrath,
‘They will not enter into my rest.’”
12 Beware, brothers, lest perhaps there might be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God; 13 but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called “today”, lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence firm to the end, 15 while it is said,
“Today if you will hear his voice,
don’t harden your hearts, as in the rebellion.”
16 For who, when they heard, rebelled? Wasn’t it all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? 17 With whom was he displeased forty years? Wasn’t it with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 To whom did he swear that they wouldn’t enter into his rest, but to those who were disobedient? 19 We see that they weren’t able to enter in because of unbelief.

10 That is why I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray,
and they have not known my ways.’
11 So I declared on oath in my anger,(A)
‘They shall never enter my rest.’ (B)”[a](C)
12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.(D) 13 But encourage one another daily,(E) as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.(F) 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold(G) our original conviction firmly to the very end.(H) 15 As has just been said:
16 Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?(J) 17 And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness?(K) 18 And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest(L) if not to those who disobeyed?(M) 19 So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.(N)

4 Let’s fear therefore, lest perhaps anyone of you should seem to have come short of a promise of entering into his rest. 2 For indeed we have had good news preached to us, even as they also did, but the word they heard didn’t profit them, because it wasn’t mixed with faith by those who heard.

A Sabbath-Rest for the People of God
4 Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.(A) 2 For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because they did not share the faith of those who obeyed.[a](B)
