God’s Final Word in His Son

1 God, after He ^(A)spoke long ago to the fathers in ^(B)the prophets in many portions and ^(C)in many ways, ^2 [a](D)in these last days ^(E)has spoken to us ^[b]in His ^(F)Son, whom He appointed ^(G)heir of all things, ^(H)through whom He also made the ^[c](I)world. ^3 [d]And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact ^(J)representation of His nature, and ^[e](K)upholds all things by ^[f]the word of His power. When He had made ^(L)purification of sins, He ^(M)sat down at the right hand of the ^(N)Majesty on high,

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, ^(A)the faithful witness, the ^(B)firstborn of the dead, and the ^(C)ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who ^(D)loves us and released us from our sins by His blood—

⁵⁷ And they took ^(A)offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “^(B)A prophet is not dishonored except in his ^[a]hometown and in his own household.”

⁵ So too Christ ^(A)did not glorify Himself in becoming a ^(B)high priest, but it was He who ^(C)said to Him,

⁶ just as He also says in another passage,

⁷ In the days of ^[a]His humanity, ^[b](G)He offered up both prayers and pleas with ^(H)loud crying and tears to the One ^(I)able to save Him ^[c]from death, and He ^[d]was heard because of His ^(J)devout behavior. ⁸ Although He was ^(K)a Son, He learned ^(L)obedience from the things which He suffered. ⁹ And having been ^(M)perfected, He became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey Him, ¹⁰ being designated by God as ^(N)High Priest according to ^(O)the order of Melchizedek.

³⁷ Therefore Pilate said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “^(A)You say correctly that I am a king. For this purpose I have been born, and for this I have come into the world: ^(B)to testify to the truth. ^(C)Everyone who is of the truth listens to My voice.”
