Hebrews 12:6-8

6 For (A)whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.”
7 (B)If[a] you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what (C)son is there whom a father does not chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, (D)of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.

6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,(A)
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”[a](B)
7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children.(C) For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8 If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline(D)—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.
