²⁹ Then God said, “Behold, ^(A)I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the ^[a]surface of all the earth, and every tree ^[b]which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, ^(A)the ^[a]virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will name Him ^[b](B)Immanuel. ¹⁵ He will eat ^[c](C)curds and honey ^[d]at the time He knows enough to refuse evil and choose good.

Daniel’s Resolve

⁸ But Daniel ^[a]made up his mind that he would not ^(A)defile himself with the ^(B)king’s choice food or with the ^(C)wine which he drank; so he sought permission from the commander of the officials that he might not defile himself.

^21 (A)It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anything by which your brother or sister stumbles.

¹³ Therefore, ^(A)if food causes my brother to sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause my brother to sin.
