²⁷ Now the Israelites settled in Egypt in the region of Goshen.^(A) They acquired property there^(B) and were fruitful and increased greatly in number.^(C)

⁷ but the Israelites were exceedingly fruitful; they multiplied greatly, increased in numbers^(A) and became so numerous that the land was filled with them.

⁹ “Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become far too numerous^(A) for us.^(B)

¹³ Remember^(A) your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self:^(B) ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars^(C) in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land^(D) I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.’”

¹¹ “So I advise you: Let all Israel, from Dan to Beersheba^(A)—as numerous as the sand^(B) on the seashore—be gathered to you, with you yourself leading them into battle.
