Joseph Tests His Brothers
44 Then he commanded (A)the steward of his house, (B)“Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man's money in the mouth of his sack, 2 and put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, with his money for the grain.” And he did as Joseph told him.
3 As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away with their donkeys. 4 They had gone only a short distance from the city. Now Joseph said to his (C)steward, “Up, follow after the men, and when you overtake them, say to them, ‘Why have you repaid evil for good?[a] 5 Is it not from this that my lord drinks, and (D)by this that he practices divination? You have done evil in doing this.’”
6 When he overtook them, he spoke to them these words. 7 They said to him, “Why does my lord speak such words as these? Far be it from your servants to do such a thing! 8 Behold, (E)the money that we found in the mouths of our sacks we brought back to you from the land of Canaan. How then could we steal silver or gold from your lord's house? 9 (F)Whichever of your servants is found with it shall die, and we also will be (G)my lord's servants.” 10 He said, “Let it be as you say: he who is found with it shall be my servant, and the rest of you shall be innocent.” 11 Then each man quickly lowered his sack to the ground, and each man opened his sack. 12 And he searched, beginning with the eldest and ending with the youngest. And the cup was found in Benjamin's sack. 13 Then they (H)tore their clothes, and every man loaded his donkey, and they returned to the city.
14 When Judah and his brothers came to Joseph's house, he was still there. They (I)fell before him to the ground. 15 Joseph said to them, “What deed is this that you have done? Do you not know that a man like me (J)can indeed practice divination?” 16 And Judah said, “What shall we say to my lord? What shall we speak? Or how can we clear ourselves? God has found out (K)the guilt of your servants; behold, we are (L)my lord's servants, both we and he also in whose hand the cup has been found.” 17 But he said, “Far be it from me that I should do so! Only the man in whose hand the cup was found shall be my servant. But as for you, go up in peace to your father.”
18 Then Judah went up to him and said, (M)“Oh, my lord, please let your servant speak a word in my lord's ears, and (N)let not your anger burn against your servant, for (O)you are like Pharaoh himself.

Joseph’s Plan to Trap His Brothers
44 Joseph commanded the man in charge of his house,
“Fill the men’s sacks with as much food as they can carry. Put each man’s money in his sack. 2 Then put my silver cup in the youngest brother’s sack along with the money for his grain.” He did what Joseph told him.
3 At dawn the men were sent on their way with their donkeys. 4 They had not gone far from the city when Joseph said to the man in charge of his house, “Go after those men at once, and when you catch up with them, say to them, ‘Why have you paid me back with evil when I was good to you? 5 Isn’t this the cup that my master drinks from and that he uses for telling the future? What you have done is evil!’ ”
6 When he caught up with them, he repeated these words to them. 7 They answered him, “Sir, how can you say such things? We would never think of doing anything like that! 8 We brought the money we found in our sacks back from Canaan. So why would we steal any silver or gold from your master’s house? 9 If one of us has it, he will die, and the rest of us will become your slaves.”
10 “I agree,” he said. “We’ll do what you’ve said. The man who has the cup will be my slave, and the rest of you can go free.”
11 Each one quickly lowered his sack to the ground and opened it. 12 Then the man made a thorough search. He began with the oldest and ended with the youngest. The cup was found in Benjamin’s sack. 13 When they saw this, they tore their clothes in grief. Then each one loaded his donkey and went back into the city.
14 Judah and his brothers arrived at Joseph’s house while Joseph was still there. Immediately, they bowed with their faces touching the ground. 15 Joseph asked them, “What have you done? Don’t you know that a man like me can find things out because he knows the future?”
16 “Sir, what can we say to you?” Judah asked. “How else can we explain it? How can we prove we’re innocent? God has uncovered our guilt. Now all of us are your slaves, including the one who had the cup.”
17 But Joseph said, “I would never think of doing that! Only the man who had the cup will be my slave. The rest of you can go back to your father in peace.”
Judah Defends Benjamin
18 Then Judah went up to Joseph and said, “Please, sir, let me speak openly with you. Don’t be angry with me, although you are equal to Pharaoh.

Y él hizo como dijo José. 3 Venida la mañana, los hombres fueron despedidos con sus asnos. 4 Habiendo ellos salido de la ciudad, de la que aún no se habían alejado, dijo José a su mayordomo: Levántate y sigue a esos hombres; y cuando los alcances, diles: ¿Por qué habéis vuelto mal por bien? ¿Por qué habéis robado mi copa de plata? 5 ¿No es esta en la que bebe mi señor, y por la que suele adivinar? Habéis hecho mal en lo que hicisteis.

14 Vino Judá con sus hermanos a casa de José, que aún estaba allí, y se postraron delante de él en tierra. 15 Y les dijo José: ¿Qué acción es esta que habéis hecho? ¿No sabéis que un hombre como yo sabe adivinar? 16 Entonces dijo Judá: ¿Qué diremos a mi señor? ¿Qué hablaremos, o con qué nos justificaremos? Dios ha hallado la maldad de tus siervos; he aquí, nosotros somos siervos de mi señor, nosotros, y también aquel en cuyo poder fue hallada la copa. 17 José respondió: Nunca yo tal haga. El varón en cuyo poder fue hallada la copa, él será mi siervo; vosotros id en paz a vuestro padre.
Judá intercede por Benjamín
18 Entonces Judá se acercó a él, y dijo: Ay, señor mío, te ruego que permitas que hable tu siervo una palabra en oídos de mi señor, y no se encienda tu enojo contra tu siervo, pues tú eres como Faraón.

44 И приказал [Иосиф] начальнику дома своего, говоря: наполни мешки этих людей пищею, сколько они могут нести, и серебро каждого положи в отверстие мешка его,
2 а чашу мою, чашу серебряную, положи в отверстие мешка к младшему вместе с серебром за купленный им хлеб. И сделал тот по слову Иосифа, которое сказал он.
3 Утром, когда рассвело, эти люди были отпущены, они и ослы их.
4 Еще не далеко отошли они от города, как Иосиф сказал начальнику дома своего: ступай, догоняй этих людей и, когда догонишь, скажи им: для чего вы заплатили злом за добро?
5 Не та ли это, из которой пьет господин мой и он гадает на ней? Худо это вы сделали.
6 Он догнал их и сказал им эти слова.
7 Они сказали ему: для чего господин наш говорит такие слова? Нет, рабы твои не сделают такого дела.
8 Вот, серебро, найденное нами в отверстии мешков наших, мы обратно принесли тебе из земли Ханаанской: как же нам украсть из дома господина твоего серебро или золото?
9 У кого из рабов твоих найдется, тому смерть, и мы будем рабами господину нашему.
10 Он сказал: хорошо; как вы сказали, так пусть и будет: у кого найдется [чаша], тот будет мне рабом, а вы будете не виноваты.
11 Они поспешно спустили каждый свой мешок на землю и открыли каждый свой мешок.
12 Он обыскал, начал со старшего и окончил младшим; и нашлась чаша в мешке Вениаминовом.
13 И разодрали они одежды свои, и, возложив каждый на осла своего ношу, возвратились в город.
14 И пришли Иуда и братья его в дом Иосифа, который был еще дома, и пали пред ним на землю.
15 Иосиф сказал им: что это вы сделали? разве вы не знали, что такой человек, как я, конечно угадает?
16 Иуда сказал: что нам сказать господину нашему? что говорить? чем оправдываться? Бог нашел неправду рабов твоих; вот, мы рабы господину нашему, и мы, и тот, в чьих руках нашлась чаша.
17 Но [Иосиф] сказал: нет, я этого не сделаю; тот, в чьих руках нашлась чаша, будет мне рабом, а вы пойдите с миром к отцу вашему.
18 И подошел Иуда к нему и сказал: господин мой, позволь рабу твоему сказать слово в уши господина моего, и не прогневайся на раба твоего, ибо ты то же, что фараон.

32 For your servant became a pledge of safety for the boy to my father, saying, (A)‘If I do not bring him back to you, then I shall bear the blame before my father all my life.’ 33 Now therefore, please let your servant remain instead of the boy as a servant to my lord, and let the boy go back with his brothers. 34 For how can I go back to my father if the boy is not with me? I fear to see the evil that would find my father.”

28 (A)And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, (B)‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, (C)the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 (D)The second is this: (E)‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment (F)greater than these.” 32 And the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher. You have truly said that (G)he is one, and (H)there is no other besides him. 33 And to love him with all the heart and with all (I)the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, (J)is much more than all (K)whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34 And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” (L)And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions.
Whose Son Is the Christ?
35 (M)And as (N)Jesus taught in the temple, he said, “How can the scribes say that (O)the Christ is the son of David? 36 David himself, (P)in the Holy Spirit, declared,
37 David himself calls him Lord. So (S)how is he his son?” And the great throng (T)heard him gladly.
Beware of the Scribes
38 (U)And in his teaching he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes and like greetings in the marketplaces 39 and have the best seats in the synagogues and (V)the places of honor at feasts, 40 (W)who devour widows' houses and (X)for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”
The Widow's Offering
41 (Y)And he sat down opposite (Z)the treasury and watched the people (AA)putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. 42 And a poor widow came and put in two (AB)small copper coins, which make a penny.[a] 43 And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, (AC)this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. 44 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her (AD)poverty has put in everything she had, all (AE)she had to live on.”

Love God and Your Neighbor(A)
28 One of the experts in Moses’ Teachings went to Jesus during the argument with the Sadducees. He saw how well Jesus answered them, so he asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of them all?”
29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Listen, Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord. 30 So love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 The second most important commandment is this: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”
32 The expert in Moses’ Teachings said to Jesus, “Teacher, that was well said! You’ve told the truth that there is only one God and no other besides him! 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as you love yourself is more important than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
34 When Jesus heard how wisely the man answered, he told the man, “You’re not too far from God’s kingdom.”
After that, no one dared to ask him another question.
How Can David’s Son Be David’s Lord?(B)
35 While Jesus was teaching in the temple courtyard, he asked, “How can the experts in Moses’ Teachings say that the Messiah is David’s son? 36 David, guided by the Holy Spirit, said,
‘The Lord said to my Lord:
“Take the honored position—the one next to me [God the Father] on the heavenly throne—
until I put your enemies under your control.” ’
37 David calls him Lord. So how can he be his son?”
Jesus Disapproves of the Example Set by the Experts in Moses’ Teachings(C)
The large crowd enjoyed listening to him. 38 As he taught, he said, “Watch out for the experts in Moses’ Teachings! They like to walk around in long robes, to be greeted in the marketplaces, 39 and to have the front seats in synagogues and the places of honor at dinners. 40 They rob widows by taking their houses and then say long prayers to make themselves look good. The experts in Moses’ Teachings will receive the most severe punishment.”
A Widow’s Contribution(D)
41 As Jesus sat facing the temple offering box, he watched how ⌞much⌟ money people put into it. Many rich people put in large amounts. 42 A poor widow dropped in two small coins, worth less than a cent.
43 He called his disciples and said to them, “I can guarantee this truth: This poor widow has given more than all the others. 44 All of them have given what they could spare. But she, in her poverty, has given everything she had to live on.”

Jesús acusa a los escribas

36 Ибо сам Давид сказал Духом Святым: сказал Господь Господу моему: седи одесную Меня, доколе положу врагов Твоих в подножие ног Твоих.
37 Итак, сам Давид называет Его Господом: как же Он Сын ему? И множество народа слушало Его с услаждением.
38 И говорил им в учении Своем: остерегайтесь книжников, любящих ходить в длинных одеждах и [принимать] приветствия в народных собраниях,
39 сидеть впереди в синагогах и возлежать на первом [месте] на пиршествах, --
40 сии, поядающие домы вдов и напоказ долго молящиеся, примут тягчайшее осуждение.
41 И сел Иисус против сокровищницы и смотрел, как народ кладет деньги в сокровищницу. Многие богатые клали много.
42 Придя же, одна бедная вдова положила две лепты, что составляет кодрант.
43 Подозвав учеников Своих, [Иисус] сказал им: истинно говорю вам, что эта бедная вдова положила больше всех, клавших в сокровищницу,
44 ибо все клали от избытка своего, а она от скудости своей положила всё, что имела, всё пропитание свое.
