Genesis 44:16-18

New International Version

¹⁶ “What can we say to my lord?^(A)” Judah^(B) replied. “What can we say? How can we prove our innocence?^(C) God has uncovered your servants’^(D) guilt. We are now my lord’s slaves^(E)—we ourselves and the one who was found to have the cup.^(F)”

¹⁷ But Joseph said, “Far be it from me to do such a thing!^(G) Only the man who was found to have the cup will become my slave.^(H) The rest of you, go back to your father in peace.”^(I)

¹⁸ Then Judah^(J) went up to him and said: “Pardon your servant, my lord,^(K) let me speak a word to my lord. Do not be angry^(L) with your servant, though you are equal to Pharaoh himself.
