Joseph Imprisoned

19 Now when his master heard the words of his wife which she spoke to him, saying, “[a]This is what your slave did to me,” (A)his anger burned. 20 So Joseph’s master took him and (B)put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined; and he was there in the prison. 21 But (C)the Lord was with Joseph and extended kindness to him, and (D)gave him favor in the sight of the warden of the prison. 22 And the warden of the prison [b](E)put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners who were in the prison; so that whatever was done there, he was [c]responsible for it. 23 (F)The warden of the prison did not supervise anything [d]under Joseph’s authority, because (G)the Lord was with him; and, (H)the Lord made whatever he did prosper.

19 When his master heard the story his wife told him, saying, “This is how your slave treated me,” he burned with anger.(A) 20 Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison,(B) the place where the king’s prisoners were confined.

But while Joseph was there in the prison, 21 the Lord was with him;(C) he showed him kindness(D) and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.(E) 22 So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there.(F) 23 The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s(G) care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.(H)
