Genesis 38:6-8

6 Judah took a wife for Er, his firstborn. Her name was Tamar. 7 It turned out that Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord, so the Lord killed him.
8 Then Judah said to Onan, “Go to your brother’s wife. Perform your duty for her as the brother of her deceased husband and provide offspring[a] for your brother.”

New International Version
6 Judah got a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.(A) 7 But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the Lord’s sight;(B) so the Lord put him to death.(C)
8 Then Judah said to Onan, “Sleep with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to raise up offspring for your brother.”(D)
