Genesis 37:34-36

New International Version

³⁴ Then Jacob tore his clothes,^(A) put on sackcloth^(B) and mourned for his son many days.^{(C) 35} All his sons and daughters came to comfort him,^(D) but he refused to be comforted.^(E) “No,” he said, “I will continue to mourn until I join my son^(F) in the grave.^(G)” So his father wept for him.

³⁶ Meanwhile, the Midianites^[a](H) sold Joseph^(I) in Egypt to Potiphar, one of Pharaoh’s officials, the captain of the guard.^(J)
