13 Then God went up from him(A) at the place where he had talked with him.

14 Jacob set up a stone pillar(B) at the place where God had talked with him, and he poured out a drink offering(C) on it; he also poured oil on it.(D) 15 Jacob called the place where God had talked with him Bethel.[a](E)

The Deaths of Rachel and Isaac(F)

16 Then they moved on from Bethel. While they were still some distance from Ephrath,(G) Rachel(H) began to give birth and had great difficulty. 17 And as she was having great difficulty in childbirth, the midwife(I) said to her, “Don’t despair, for you have another son.”(J) 18 As she breathed her last—for she was dying—she named her son Ben-Oni.[b](K) But his father named him Benjamin.[c](L)

19 So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath(M) (that is, Bethlehem(N)). 20 Over her tomb Jacob set up a pillar, and to this day(O) that pillar marks Rachel’s tomb.(P)

15 And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Bethel.

16 And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour.

17 And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.

18 And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.

19 And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.

20 And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel's grave unto this day.
