³⁰ For you had little before ^[a]I came, and it has ^[b]increased to a multitude, and the Lord has blessed you ^[c]wherever I turned. But now, when shall I provide for my own household also?”

¹⁴ And ^(A)Joseph collected all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan in payment for the grain which they bought, and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house.

Result of the Famine

²⁰ So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh, for ^[a]every Egyptian sold his field, because the famine was severe upon them. So the land became Pharaoh’s.

⁴ “^(A)If you encounter your enemy’s ox or his donkey wandering away, you must return it to him. ^5 (B)If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying helpless under its load, you shall not leave it helpless for ^[a]its owner; you must arrange the load with him.

Of Poor Countrymen

³⁵ ‘^(A)Now in case a countryman of yours becomes poor and his ^[a]means among you falter, then you are to sustain him, like a stranger or a resident, so that he may live with you.

Various Laws

22 “^(A)You shall not see your countryman’s ox or his sheep straying away, and avoid them; you shall certainly bring them back to your countryman. ² And if your countryman is not near you, or if you do not know him, then you shall bring it to your house, and it shall remain with you until your countryman looks for it; then you shall restore it to him. ³ You shall also do this with his donkey, and you shall do the same with his garment, and you shall do likewise with any lost property of your countryman, which has been lost by him and you have found. You are not allowed to avoid them. ⁴ You shall not see your countryman’s donkey or his ox fallen down on the road, and avoid them; you shall certainly help him raise them up.

⁵ “A woman shall not wear a man’s clothing, nor shall a man put on a woman’s clothing; for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.

⁸ But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has ^(A)denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
