¹⁶ Abraham agreed with Ephron, and Abraham weighed out for Ephron the silver that he had named in the hearing of the Hittites, four hundred shekels of silver, according to the weights current among the merchants.^(A)

¹⁹ And from the sons of Hamor, Shechem’s father, he bought for one hundred pieces of money^[a] the plot of land on which he had pitched his tent.^(A)

³² The bones of Joseph, which the Israelites had brought up from Egypt, were buried at Shechem, in the portion of ground that Jacob had bought from the children of Hamor, the father of Shechem, for one hundred pieces of money;^[a] it became an inheritance of the descendants of Joseph.^(A)
