23 so now, (A)swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me or with my offspring or with my descendants, but according to the kindness that I have shown to you, you shall show to me and to the land in which you have resided.”

16 So Jonathan(C) made a covenant(D) with the house of David, saying, “May the Lord call David’s enemies to account.(E)” 17 And Jonathan had David reaffirm his oath(F) out of love for him, because he loved him as he loved himself.

7 But the king spared (C)Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, (D)because of the oath of the Lord which was between them, between David and Saul’s son Jonathan. 8 So the king took the two sons of (E)Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, Armoni and Mephibosheth whom she had borne to Saul, and the five sons of [b](F)Merab the daughter of Saul, whom she had borne to Adriel the son of Barzillai the (G)Meholathite.

7 The king spared Mephibosheth(C) son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath(D) before the Lord between David and Jonathan son of Saul. 8 But the king took Armoni and Mephibosheth, the two sons of Aiah’s daughter Rizpah,(E) whom she had borne to Saul, together with the five sons of Saul’s daughter Merab,[a] whom she had borne to Adriel son of Barzillai the Meholathite.(F)
