³ And God said,^(A) “Let there be light,” and there was light.^{(B) 4} God saw that the light was good,^(C) and he separated the light from the darkness.^{(D) 5} God called^(E) the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.”^(F) And there was evening, and there was morning^(G)—the first day.

¹⁶ God made two great lights—the greater light^(A) to govern^(B) the day and the lesser light to govern^(C) the night.^(D) He also made the stars.^{(E) 17} God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, ¹⁸ to govern the day and the night,^(F) and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.^{(G) 19} And there was evening, and there was morning^(H)—the fourth day.
