²⁹Once when Jacob was cooking some stew,^(A) Esau came in from the open country,^(B) famished.

²⁹And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:

³⁰He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red stew!^(A) I’m famished!” (That is why he was also called Edom.^[a])^(B)

³⁰And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.
