⁵ Abraham was a hundred years old^(A) when his son Isaac was born to him.

⁶ Sarah said, “God has brought me laughter,^(B) and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.” ⁷ And she added, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.”^(C)

⁹ Then the Lord your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land.^(A) The Lord will again delight^(B) in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your ancestors, ¹⁰ if you obey the Lord your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law^(C) and turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.^(D)

⁴¹ I will rejoice^(A) in doing them good^(B) and will assuredly plant^(C) them in this land with all my heart and soul.^(D)

¹⁰ But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid.^(A) I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. ¹¹ Today in the town of David a Savior^(B) has been born to you; he is the Messiah,^(C) the Lord.^{(D) 12} This will be a sign^(E) to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

¹³ Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

¹⁰ In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”^(A)

¹⁰ The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life,^(A) and have it to the full.^(B)

¹⁶ Rejoice always,^(A)
