²⁷Finish this daughter’s bridal week;^(A) then we will give you the younger one also, in return for another seven years of work.^(B)”

²⁷^(A)Fulfill her week, and we will give you this one also for the service which you will serve with me still another seven years.”

¹⁴He replied,

“Out of the eater, something to eat;
out of the strong, something sweet.”^(A)

For three days they could not give the answer.

¹⁴So he said to them:

“Out of the eater came something to eat,
And out of the strong came something sweet.”

Now for three days they could not explain the riddle.
