2 Specifically, they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves, as well as for their sons, so that the holy seed has been mingled with the people of the lands. In fact, the involvement of the leaders and rulers has been foremost in this vile behavior.”
3 When I heard this, I tore my clothes and my robe, plucked out the hair of my head and from my beard, and sat down astonished. 4 Because of the vile behavior of those who had been in exile, every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel gathered to me, but I sat astonished until the evening sacrifice.

2 They have taken some of their daughters(A) as wives for themselves and their sons, and have mingled(B) the holy race(C) with the peoples around them. And the leaders and officials have led the way in this unfaithfulness.”(D)
3 When I heard this, I tore(E) my tunic and cloak, pulled hair from my head and beard and sat down appalled.(F) 4 Then everyone who trembled(G) at the words of the God of Israel gathered around me because of this unfaithfulness of the exiles. And I sat there appalled(H) until the evening sacrifice.
