Muerte de la esposa de Ezequiel

15 Vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo: 16 Hijo de hombre, he aquí que yo te quito de golpe el deleite de tus ojos; no endeches, ni llores, ni corran tus lágrimas. 17 Reprime el suspirar, no hagas luto de mortuorios; ata tu turbante sobre ti, y pon tus zapatos en tus pies, y no te cubras con rebozo, ni comas pan de enlutados. 18 Hablé al pueblo por la mañana, y a la tarde murió mi mujer; y a la mañana hice como me fue mandado.

19 Y me dijo el pueblo: ¿No nos enseñarás qué significan para nosotros estas cosas que haces? 20 Y yo les dije: La palabra de Jehová vino a mí, diciendo: 21 Di a la casa de Israel: Así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: He aquí yo profano mi santuario, la gloria de vuestro poderío, el deseo de vuestros ojos y el deleite de vuestra alma; y vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas que dejasteis caerán a espada. 22 Y haréis de la manera que yo hice; no os cubriréis con rebozo, ni comeréis pan de hombres en luto. 23 Vuestros turbantes estarán sobre vuestras cabezas, y vuestros zapatos en vuestros pies; no endecharéis ni lloraréis, sino que os consumiréis a causa de vuestras maldades, y gemiréis unos con otros. 24 Ezequiel, pues, os será por señal; según todas las cosas que él hizo, haréis; cuando esto ocurra, entonces sabréis que yo soy Jehová el Señor.

25 Y tú, hijo de hombre, el día que yo arrebate a ellos su fortaleza, el gozo de su gloria, el deleite de sus ojos y el anhelo de sus almas, y también sus hijos y sus hijas, 26 ese día vendrá a ti uno que haya escapado para traer las noticias. 27 En aquel día se abrirá tu boca para hablar con el fugitivo, y hablarás, y no estarás más mudo; y les serás por señal, y sabrán que yo soy Jehová.

Profecía contra Amón

25 Vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo: 2 Hijo de hombre, pon tu rostro hacia los hijos de Amón,(A) y profetiza contra ellos. 3 Y dirás a los hijos de Amón: Oíd palabra de Jehová el Señor. Así dice Jehová el Señor: Por cuanto dijiste: ¡Ea, bien!, cuando mi santuario era profanado, y la tierra de Israel era asolada, y llevada en cautiverio la casa de Judá; 4 por tanto, he aquí yo te entrego por heredad a los orientales, y pondrán en ti sus apriscos y plantarán en ti sus tiendas; ellos comerán tus sementeras, y beberán tu leche. 5 Y pondré a Rabá por habitación de camellos, y a los hijos de Amón por majada de ovejas; y sabréis que yo soy Jehová. 6 Porque así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: Por cuanto batiste tus manos, y golpeaste con tu pie, y te gozaste en el alma con todo tu menosprecio para la tierra de Israel, 7 por tanto, he aquí yo extenderé mi mano contra ti, y te entregaré a las naciones para ser saqueada; te cortaré de entre los pueblos, y te destruiré de entre las tierras; te exterminaré, y sabrás que yo soy Jehová.

Profecía contra Moab

8 Así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: Por cuanto dijo Moab(B) y Seir: He aquí la casa de Judá es como todas las naciones; 9 por tanto, he aquí yo abro el lado de Moab desde las ciudades, desde sus ciudades que están en su confín, las tierras deseables de Bet-jesimot, Baal-meón y Quiriataim, 10 a los hijos del oriente contra los hijos de Amón; y la entregaré por heredad, para que no haya más memoria de los hijos de Amón entre las naciones. 11 También en Moab haré juicios, y sabrán que yo soy Jehová.

Profecía contra Edom

12 Así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: Por lo que hizo Edom,(C) tomando venganza de la casa de Judá, pues delinquieron en extremo, y se vengaron de ellos; 13 por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: Yo también extenderé mi mano sobre Edom, y cortaré de ella hombres y bestias, y la asolaré; desde Temán hasta Dedán caerán a espada. 14 Y pondré mi venganza contra Edom en manos de mi pueblo Israel, y harán en Edom según mi enojo y conforme a mi ira; y conocerán mi venganza, dice Jehová el Señor.

Profecía contra los filisteos

15 Así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: Por lo que hicieron los filisteos(D) con venganza, cuando se vengaron con despecho de ánimo, destruyendo por antiguas enemistades; 16 por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí yo extiendo mi mano contra los filisteos, y cortaré a los cereteos, y destruiré el resto que queda en la costa del mar. 17 Y haré en ellos grandes venganzas con reprensiones de ira; y sabrán que yo soy Jehová, cuando haga mi venganza en ellos.

Death of Ezekiel’s Wife Is a Sign

15 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 16 “Son of man, behold, I am about to take from you (A)what is precious to your eyes with a (B)fatal blow; but you shall not (C)mourn and you shall not weep, and your (D)tears shall not come. 17 Groan silently; do (E)no mourning for the dead. Bind on your turban and put your sandals on your feet, and do not [a]cover your mustache, and (F)do not eat the [b]bread of other people.” 18 So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. And in the morning I did as I was commanded. 19 And the people said to me, “Will you not tell us what these things mean for us, that you are doing?” 20 Then I said to them, “The word of the Lord came to me, saying, 21 ‘Speak to the house of Israel, “This is what the Lord God says: ‘Behold, I am about to profane My sanctuary, the pride of your power, (G)that which is precious in your eyes and the longing of your soul; and your (H)sons and your daughters whom you have left behind will fall by the sword. 22 And you will do just as I have done; you will not [c]cover your mustache, and you will not eat the [d]bread of other people. 23 Your turbans will be on your heads, and your sandals on your feet. You (I)will not mourn and you will not weep; but (J)you will rot away in your guilty deeds, and you will groan [e]to one another. 24 So Ezekiel will be a (K)sign to you; according to all that he has done, you will do. When it comes, then you will know that I am the Lord God.’”

25 ‘As for you, son of man, will it not be on the day when I take from them their (L)stronghold, the joy of their splendor, that which is precious in their eyes and their [f]heart’s longing, their sons and their daughters, 26 that on that day the one who (M)escapes will come to you with information for your ears? 27 On that day your (N)mouth will be opened to him who escaped, and you will speak and no longer be silenced. So you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the Lord.’”

Judgment on Gentile Nations—Ammon

25 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, set your face against the (O)sons of Ammon and prophesy against them, 3 and say to the sons of Ammon, ‘Hear the word of the Lord [g]God! This is what the Lord God says: “Because you said, ‘(P)Aha!’ against My sanctuary when it was profaned, and against the land of Israel when it was made desolate, and against the house of Judah when they went into exile, 4 therefore, behold, I am going to give you to the [h](Q)people of the east as a possession, and they will set up their encampments among you and make their dwellings among you; they will (R)eat your fruit and drink your milk. 5 I will make (S)Rabbah a pasture for camels, and the sons of Ammon a resting place for flocks. Then you will know that I am the Lord.” 6 For this is what the Lord God says: “Because you have (T)clapped your hands and stamped your feet, and have (U)rejoiced with all the malice in your soul against the land of Israel, 7 therefore, behold, I have (V)reached out with My hand against you and I will give you as (W)plunder to the nations. And I will (X)cut you off from the peoples and (Y)eliminate you from the lands. I will exterminate you. So you will (Z)know that I am the Lord.”

Moab

8 ‘The Lord God says this: “Because (AA)Moab and Seir say, ‘Behold, the house of Judah is like all the nations,’ 9 therefore, behold, I am going to [i]deprive the flank of Moab of its cities, of its cities [j]which are on its frontiers, the glory of the land, (AB)Beth-jeshimoth, (AC)Baal-meon, and (AD)Kiriathaim; 10 and I will give it as a possession along with the sons of Ammon to the [k](AE)people of the east, so that the sons of Ammon will not be remembered among the nations. 11 So I will execute judgments on Moab, and they will know that I am the Lord.”

Edom

12 ‘The Lord God says this: “Because (AF)Edom has acted against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and has incurred great guilt, and avenged themselves upon them,” 13 therefore this is what the Lord God says: “I will also (AG)reach out with My hand against Edom and (AH)eliminate human and animal life from it. And I will turn it into ruins; from (AI)Teman even to (AJ)Dedan they will fall by the sword. 14 And (AK)I will inflict My vengeance on Edom by the hand of My people Israel. Therefore, they will act in Edom (AL)in accordance with My anger and My wrath; so they will know My vengeance,” declares the Lord God.

Philistia

15 ‘This is what the Lord God says: “Because the Philistines have acted in (AM)revenge, and have taken vengeance with malice in their souls to destroy with everlasting hostility,” 16 therefore this is what the Lord God says: “Behold, I am going to (AN)reach out with My hand against the Philistines and eliminate the (AO)Cherethites; and I will destroy the remnant of the seacoast. 17 I will execute great vengeance on them with wrathful rebukes; and they will (AP)know that I am the Lord, when I inflict My vengeance on them.”’”

34 Palabra de Jehová que vino a Jeremías cuando Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia y todo su ejército, y todos los reinos de la tierra bajo el señorío de su mano, y todos los pueblos, peleaban contra Jerusalén(A) y contra todas sus ciudades, la cual dijo: 2 Así ha dicho Jehová Dios de Israel: Ve y habla a Sedequías rey de Judá, y dile: Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí yo entregaré esta ciudad al rey de Babilonia, y la quemará con fuego; 3 y no escaparás tú de su mano, sino que ciertamente serás apresado, y en su mano serás entregado; y tus ojos verán los ojos del rey de Babilonia, y te hablará boca a boca, y en Babilonia entrarás. 4 Con todo eso, oye palabra de Jehová, Sedequías rey de Judá: Así ha dicho Jehová acerca de ti: No morirás a espada. 5 En paz morirás, y así como quemaron especias por tus padres, los reyes primeros que fueron antes de ti, las quemarán por ti, y te endecharán, diciendo, ¡Ay, señor! Porque yo he hablado la palabra, dice Jehová.

6 Y habló el profeta Jeremías a Sedequías rey de Judá todas estas palabras en Jerusalén. 7 Y el ejército del rey de Babilonia peleaba contra Jerusalén, y contra todas las ciudades de Judá que habían quedado, contra Laquis y contra Azeca; porque de las ciudades fortificadas de Judá estas habían quedado.

Violación del pacto de libertar a los siervos hebreos

8 Palabra de Jehová que vino a Jeremías, después que Sedequías hizo pacto con todo el pueblo en Jerusalén para promulgarles libertad; 9 que cada uno dejase libre a su siervo y a su sierva, hebreo y hebrea; que ninguno usase a los judíos, sus hermanos, como siervos. 10 Y cuando oyeron todos los príncipes, y todo el pueblo que había convenido en el pacto de dejar libre cada uno a su siervo y cada uno a su sierva, que ninguno los usase más como siervos, obedecieron, y los dejaron. 11 Pero después se arrepintieron, e hicieron volver a los siervos y a las siervas que habían dejado libres, y los sujetaron como siervos y siervas. 12 Vino, pues, palabra de Jehová a Jeremías, diciendo: 13 Así dice Jehová Dios de Israel: Yo hice pacto con vuestros padres el día que los saqué de tierra de Egipto, de casa de servidumbre, diciendo: 14 Al cabo de siete años dejará cada uno a su hermano hebreo que le fuere vendido; le servirá seis años, y lo enviará libre;(B) pero vuestros padres no me oyeron, ni inclinaron su oído. 15 Y vosotros os habíais hoy convertido, y hecho lo recto delante de mis ojos, anunciando cada uno libertad a su prójimo; y habíais hecho pacto en mi presencia, en la casa en la cual es invocado mi nombre. 16 Pero os habéis vuelto y profanado mi nombre, y habéis vuelto a tomar cada uno a su siervo y cada uno a su sierva, que habíais dejado libres a su voluntad; y los habéis sujetado para que os sean siervos y siervas. 17 Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová: Vosotros no me habéis oído para promulgar cada uno libertad a su hermano, y cada uno a su compañero; he aquí que yo promulgo libertad, dice Jehová, a la espada y a la pestilencia y al hambre; y os pondré por afrenta ante todos los reinos de la tierra. 18 Y entregaré a los hombres que traspasaron mi pacto, que no han llevado a efecto las palabras del pacto que celebraron en mi presencia, dividiendo en dos partes el becerro y pasando por medio de ellas; 19 a los príncipes de Judá y a los príncipes de Jerusalén, a los oficiales y a los sacerdotes y a todo el pueblo de la tierra, que pasaron entre las partes del becerro, 20 los entregaré en mano de sus enemigos y en mano de los que buscan su vida; y sus cuerpos muertos serán comida de las aves del cielo, y de las bestias de la tierra. 21 Y a Sedequías rey de Judá y a sus príncipes los entregaré en mano de sus enemigos, y en mano de los que buscan su vida, y en mano del ejército del rey de Babilonia, que se ha ido de vosotros. 22 He aquí, mandaré yo, dice Jehová, y los haré volver a esta ciudad, y pelearán contra ella y la tomarán, y la quemarán con fuego; y reduciré a soledad las ciudades de Judá, hasta no quedar morador.

A Prophecy against Zedekiah

34 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, when (A)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army, with (B)all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his [a]control and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem and all its cities, saying, 2 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: ‘(C)Go and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah and say to him, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Behold, (D)I am handing this city over to the king of Babylon, and (E)he will burn it with fire. 3 And as for you, (F)you will not escape from his hand, for you will assuredly be caught and handed over to him; and you will (G)see the king of Babylon eye to eye, and he will speak with you [b]face to face, and you will go to Babylon.’”’ 4 Yet hear the word of the Lord, Zedekiah king of Judah! This is what the Lord says concerning you: ‘You will not die by the sword. 5 You will die in peace; and as spices were burned for your fathers, the former kings who were before you, so they will (H)burn spices for you; and (I)they will mourn for you, crying, “Oh, my lord!”’ For I have spoken the word,” declares the Lord.

6 Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke (J)all these words to Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem 7 when the army of the king of Babylon was fighting against Jerusalem and all the remaining cities of Judah, that is, (K)Lachish and (L)Azekah, for they alone remained as (M)fortified cities among the cities of Judah.

8 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord after King Zedekiah had (N)made a covenant with all the people who were in Jerusalem, to (O)proclaim [c]release to them: 9 that each person was to set his male servant free and each his female servant, a (P)Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman, so that (Q)no one would keep them, his Jewish brother or sister, in bondage. 10 And all the (R)officials and all the people obeyed who had entered into the covenant that each person was to set his male servant free and each his female servant, so that no one would keep them in bondage any longer; they obeyed, and set them free. 11 But afterward they turned around and took back the male servants and the female servants whom they had set free, and brought them into subjection as male servants and as female servants.

12 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, 13 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: ‘I (S)made a covenant with your forefathers on the day that I (T)brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, saying, 14 “(U)At the end of seven years each of you shall set free his Hebrew brother who [d]has been sold to you and has served you for six years, and you shall send him out free from you.” But your forefathers (V)did not obey Me nor incline their ear to Me. 15 Although recently you had turned and (W)done what is right in My sight, each one proclaiming [e]release to his neighbor, and you had (X)made a covenant before Me (Y)in the house which is called by My name. 16 Yet you (Z)turned and (AA)profaned My name, and each person [f]took back his male servant and each his female servant whom you had set free according to their desire, and you brought them into subjection to be your male and female servants.’

17 “Therefore this is what the Lord says: ‘You have not obeyed Me in proclaiming [g]release, each one to his brother and each to his neighbor. Behold, I am (AB)proclaiming a [h]release to you,’ declares the Lord, ‘to the (AC)sword, to the plague, and to the famine; and I will make you a (AD)terror to all the kingdoms of the earth. 18 I will give the people who have (AE)violated My covenant, who have not fulfilled the words of the covenant which they made before Me, when they (AF)cut the calf in two and passed between its parts— 19 the (AG)officials of Judah and the officials of Jerusalem, the high officials and the priests, and all the people of the land who passed between the parts of the calf— 20 I will hand them over to their enemies and to those who (AH)seek their lives. And their (AI)dead bodies will be food for the birds of the sky and the animals of the earth. 21 (AJ)Zedekiah king of Judah and his officials I will also hand over to their enemies and to those who seek their lives, and to the army of the king of Babylon which has (AK)withdrawn from you. 22 Behold, I am going to give a command,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will bring them back to this city, and they will fight against it and (AL)take it and burn it with fire; and I will make the cities of Judah a (AM)desolation (AN)without inhabitant.’”

Jerusalén será destruida

21 Palabra de Jehová que vino a Jeremías, cuando el rey Sedequías envió a él a Pasur hijo de Malquías y al sacerdote Sofonías hijo de Maasías, para que le dijesen: 2 Consulta ahora acerca de nosotros a Jehová, porque Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia hace guerra contra nosotros;(A) quizá Jehová hará con nosotros según todas sus maravillas, y aquel se irá de sobre nosotros.

3 Y Jeremías les dijo: Diréis así a Sedequías: 4 Así ha dicho Jehová Dios de Israel: He aquí yo vuelvo atrás las armas de guerra que están en vuestras manos, con que vosotros peleáis contra el rey de Babilonia; y a los caldeos que están fuera de la muralla y os tienen sitiados, yo los reuniré en medio de esta ciudad. 5 Pelearé contra vosotros con mano alzada y con brazo fuerte, con furor y enojo e ira grande. 6 Y heriré a los moradores de esta ciudad, y los hombres y las bestias morirán de pestilencia grande. 7 Después, dice Jehová, entregaré a Sedequías rey de Judá, a sus criados, al pueblo y a los que queden de la pestilencia, de la espada y del hambre en la ciudad, en mano de Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, en mano de sus enemigos y de los que buscan sus vidas, y él los herirá a filo de espada; no los perdonará, ni tendrá compasión de ellos, ni tendrá de ellos misericordia.

8 Y a este pueblo dirás: Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí pongo delante de vosotros camino de vida y camino de muerte. 9 El que quedare en esta ciudad morirá a espada, de hambre o de pestilencia; mas el que saliere y se pasare a los caldeos que os tienen sitiados, vivirá, y su vida le será por despojo. 10 Porque mi rostro he puesto contra esta ciudad para mal, y no para bien, dice Jehová; en mano del rey de Babilonia será entregada, y la quemará a fuego.

11 Y a la casa del rey de Judá dirás: Oíd palabra de Jehová: 12 Casa de David, así dijo Jehová: Haced de mañana juicio, y librad al oprimido de mano del opresor, para que mi ira no salga como fuego, y se encienda y no haya quien lo apague, por la maldad de vuestras obras.

13 He aquí yo estoy contra ti, moradora del valle, y de la piedra de la llanura, dice Jehová; los que decís: ¿Quién subirá contra nosotros, y quién entrará en nuestras moradas? 14 Yo os castigaré conforme al fruto de vuestras obras, dice Jehová, y haré encender fuego en su bosque, y consumirá todo lo que está alrededor de él.

Jeremiah’s Message for Zedekiah

21 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord when (A)King Zedekiah sent to him (B)Pashhur the son of Malchijah and (C)Zephaniah the priest, the son of Maaseiah, saying, 2 “Please (D)inquire of the Lord in our behalf, because (E)Nebuchadnezzar king of (F)Babylon is making war against us; perhaps the Lord will deal with us (G)in accordance with all His [a]wonderful acts, so that the enemy will withdraw from us.”

3 But Jeremiah said to them, “You shall say to Zedekiah as follows: 4 ‘This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: “Behold, I am going to (H)turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you are making war against the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans who are besieging you outside the wall; and I will (I)gather them into the middle of this city. 5 And I (J)Myself will make war against you with an (K)outstretched hand and a mighty arm, and in (L)anger, wrath, and great indignation. 6 I will also strike the inhabitants of this city, both the people and the animals; they will die of a great (M)plague. 7 Then afterward,” declares the Lord, “(N)I will hand Zedekiah king of Judah, his servants, and the people, that is, those who survive in this city from the plague, the sword, and the famine, over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, to their enemies, and to those who seek their lives; and he will strike and kill them with the edge of the sword. He (O)will not spare them nor have pity nor compassion.”’

8 “You shall also say to this people, ‘This is what the Lord says: “Behold, I am (P)setting before you the way of life and the way of death. 9 Anyone who (Q)stays in this city will die by the (R)sword, by famine, or by plague; but anyone who leaves and goes over to the Chaldeans who are besieging you will live, and he will have his own life as plunder. 10 For I have (S)set My face against this city for harm and not for good,” declares the Lord. “It will be (T)handed over to the king of Babylon and he will (U)burn it with fire.”’

11 “Then say to the household of the (V)king of Judah, ‘Hear the word of the Lord, 12 (W)house of David, this is what the Lord says:

“(X)Administer justice [b]every (Y)morning;
And save the person who has been robbed from the [c]power of his oppressor,
(Z)So that My wrath will not spread like fire
And (AA)burn, with no one to extinguish it,
Because of the evil of their deeds.

13 “Behold, (AB)I am against you, you inhabitant of the (AC)valley,
You [d]rocky plain,” declares the Lord,
“You who say, ‘(AD)Who will come down against us?
Or who will enter our dwellings?’
14 But I will punish you (AE)according to the [e]results of your deeds,” declares the Lord,
“And I will (AF)kindle a fire in its forest
So that it may devour all its surroundings.”’”

29 En el año décimo, en el mes décimo, a los doce días del mes, vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo: 2 Hijo de hombre, pon tu rostro contra Faraón rey de Egipto, y profetiza contra él y contra todo Egipto.(A) 3 Habla, y di: Así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: He aquí yo estoy contra ti, Faraón rey de Egipto, el gran dragón que yace en medio de sus ríos, el cual dijo: Mío es el Nilo, pues yo lo hice. 4 Yo, pues, pondré garfios en tus quijadas, y pegaré los peces de tus ríos a tus escamas, y te sacaré de en medio de tus ríos, y todos los peces de tus ríos saldrán pegados a tus escamas. 5 Y te dejaré en el desierto a ti y a todos los peces de tus ríos; sobre la faz del campo caerás; no serás recogido, ni serás juntado; a las fieras de la tierra y a las aves del cielo te he dado por comida.

6 Y sabrán todos los moradores de Egipto que yo soy Jehová, por cuanto fueron báculo de caña a la casa de Israel. 7 Cuando te tomaron con la mano, te quebraste, y les rompiste todo el hombro; y cuando se apoyaron en ti, te quebraste, y les rompiste sus lomos enteramente.

8 Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: He aquí que yo traigo contra ti espada, y cortaré de ti hombres y bestias. 9 Y la tierra de Egipto será asolada y desierta, y sabrán que yo soy Jehová; por cuanto dijo: El Nilo es mío, y yo lo hice. 10 Por tanto, he aquí yo estoy contra ti, y contra tus ríos; y pondré la tierra de Egipto en desolación, en la soledad del desierto, desde Migdol hasta Sevene, hasta el límite de Etiopía. 11 No pasará por ella pie de hombre, ni pie de animal pasará por ella, ni será habitada, por cuarenta años. 12 Y pondré a la tierra de Egipto en soledad entre las tierras asoladas, y sus ciudades entre las ciudades destruidas estarán desoladas por cuarenta años; y esparciré a Egipto entre las naciones, y lo dispersaré por las tierras.

13 Porque así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: Al fin de cuarenta años recogeré a Egipto de entre los pueblos entre los cuales fueren esparcidos; 14 y volveré a traer los cautivos de Egipto, y los llevaré a la tierra de Patros, a la tierra de su origen; y allí serán un reino despreciable. 15 En comparación con los otros reinos será humilde; nunca más se alzará sobre las naciones; porque yo los disminuiré, para que no vuelvan a tener dominio sobre las naciones. 16 Y no será ya más para la casa de Israel apoyo de confianza, que les haga recordar el pecado de mirar en pos de ellos; y sabrán que yo soy Jehová el Señor.

Judgment of Egypt

29 In the (A)tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, set your face against (B)Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all (C)Egypt. 3 Speak and say, ‘This is what the Lord [a]God says:

“Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt,
The great [b](D)monster that lies in the midst of his [c]canals,
That (E)has said, ‘My Nile is mine, and I myself have made it.’
4 I will put (F)hooks in your jaws
And make the fish of your [d]canals cling to your scales.
And I will bring you up out of the midst of your [e]canals,
And all the fish of your [f]canals will cling to your scales.
5 I will (G)abandon you to the wilderness, you and all the fish of your [g]canals;
You will fall on the [h]open field; you will not be brought together or [i](H)gathered.
I have given you for (I)food to the animals of the earth and to the birds of the sky.
6 Then all the inhabitants of Egypt will know that I am the Lord,
Because they have been only a (J)staff made of reed to the house of Israel.
7 When they took hold of you with the hand,
You (K)broke and tore all their [j]hands;
And when they leaned on you,
You broke and made all their hips [k]shake.”

8 ‘Therefore the Lord God says this: “Behold, I am going to (L)bring upon you a sword, and I will cut off from you human and animal life. 9 The (M)land of Egypt will become a desolation and place of ruins. Then they will know that I am the Lord.

“Because [l]you (N)said, ‘The Nile is mine, and I have made it,’ 10 therefore, behold, I am (O)against you and against your [m]canals, and I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, from Migdol to Syene and as far as the border of [n]Cush. 11 A human foot will (P)not pass through it, nor will the foot of an animal pass through it, and it will not be inhabited for forty years. 12 So I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the (Q)midst of deserted lands. And her cities, in the midst of cities that are laid waste, will be desolate for forty years; and I will (R)scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the lands.”

13 ‘For this is what the Lord God says: “At the end of forty years I will (S)gather the Egyptians from the peoples [o]among whom they were scattered. 14 And I will restore the fortunes of Egypt and bring them back to the land of (T)Pathros, to the land of their origin, and there they will be a lowly kingdom. 15 It will be the (U)lowest of the kingdoms, and it will not raise itself above the nations again. And I will make them small so that they will not (V)rule over the nations. 16 And it will no longer be a kingdom on which (W)the house of Israel relies, [p](X)bringing to mind the guilt of their having turned [q]to Egypt. Then they will know that I am the Lord God.”’”

20 Aconteció en el año undécimo, en el mes primero, a los siete días del mes, que vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo: 21 Hijo de hombre, he quebrado el brazo de Faraón rey de Egipto; y he aquí que no ha sido vendado poniéndole medicinas, ni poniéndole faja para ligarlo, a fin de fortalecerlo para que pueda sostener la espada. 22 Por tanto, así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: Heme aquí contra Faraón rey de Egipto, y quebraré sus brazos, el fuerte y el fracturado, y haré que la espada se le caiga de la mano. 23 Y esparciré a los egipcios entre las naciones, y los dispersaré por las tierras. 24 Y fortaleceré los brazos del rey de Babilonia, y pondré mi espada en su mano; mas quebraré los brazos de Faraón, y delante de aquel gemirá con gemidos de herido de muerte. 25 Fortaleceré, pues, los brazos del rey de Babilonia, y los brazos de Faraón caerán; y sabrán que yo soy Jehová, cuando yo ponga mi espada en la mano del rey de Babilonia, y él la extienda contra la tierra de Egipto. 26 Y esparciré a los egipcios entre las naciones, y los dispersaré por las tierras; y sabrán que yo soy Jehová.

31 Aconteció en el año undécimo, en el mes tercero, el día primero del mes, que vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo: 2 Hijo de hombre, di a Faraón rey de Egipto, y a su pueblo: ¿A quién te comparaste en tu grandeza? 3 He aquí era el asirio cedro en el Líbano, de hermosas ramas, de frondoso ramaje y de grande altura, y su copa estaba entre densas ramas. 4 Las aguas lo hicieron crecer, lo encumbró el abismo; sus ríos corrían alrededor de su pie, y a todos los árboles del campo enviaba sus corrientes. 5 Por tanto, se encumbró su altura sobre todos los árboles del campo, y se multiplicaron sus ramas, y a causa de las muchas aguas se alargó su ramaje que había echado. 6 En sus ramas hacían nido todas las aves del cielo, y debajo de su ramaje parían todas las bestias del campo, y a su sombra habitaban muchas naciones. 7 Se hizo, pues, hermoso en su grandeza con la extensión de sus ramas; porque su raíz estaba junto a muchas aguas. 8 Los cedros no lo cubrieron en el huerto de Dios;(A) las hayas no fueron semejantes a sus ramas, ni los castaños fueron semejantes a su ramaje; ningún árbol en el huerto de Dios fue semejante a él en su hermosura. 9 Lo hice hermoso con la multitud de sus ramas; y todos los árboles de Edén, que estaban en el huerto de Dios, tuvieron de él envidia.

10 Por tanto, así dijo Jehová el Señor: Ya que por ser encumbrado en altura, y haber levantado su cumbre entre densas ramas, su corazón se elevó con su altura, 11 yo lo entregaré en manos del poderoso de las naciones, que de cierto le tratará según su maldad. Yo lo he desechado. 12 Y lo destruirán extranjeros, los poderosos de las naciones, y lo derribarán; sus ramas caerán sobre los montes y por todos los valles, y por todos los arroyos de la tierra será quebrado su ramaje; y se irán de su sombra todos los pueblos de la tierra, y lo dejarán. 13 Sobre su ruina habitarán todas las aves del cielo, y sobre sus ramas estarán todas las bestias del campo, 14 para que no se exalten en su altura todos los árboles que crecen junto a las aguas, ni levanten su copa entre la espesura, ni confíen en su altura todos los que beben aguas; porque todos están destinados a muerte, a lo profundo de la tierra, entre los hijos de los hombres, con los que descienden a la fosa.

15 Así ha dicho Jehová el Señor: El día que descendió al Seol, hice hacer luto, hice cubrir por él el abismo, y detuve sus ríos, y las muchas aguas fueron detenidas; al Líbano cubrí de tinieblas por él, y todos los árboles del campo se desmayaron. 16 Del estruendo de su caída hice temblar a las naciones, cuando las hice descender al Seol con todos los que descienden a la sepultura; y todos los árboles escogidos de Edén, y los mejores del Líbano, todos los que beben aguas, fueron consolados en lo profundo de la tierra. 17 También ellos descendieron con él al Seol, con los muertos a espada, los que fueron su brazo, los que estuvieron a su sombra en medio de las naciones. 18 ¿A quién te has comparado así en gloria y en grandeza entre los árboles de Edén? Pues derribado serás con los árboles de Edén en lo profundo de la tierra; entre los incircuncisos yacerás, con los muertos a espada.

Este es Faraón y todo su pueblo, dice Jehová el Señor.

Victory for Babylon

20 In the (A)eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 21 “Son of man, I have (B)broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and, behold, it has not been (C)bound up [a]for healing [b]or wrapped with a bandage, so that it may be strong to wield the sword. 22 Therefore this is what the Lord God says: ‘Behold, I am (D)against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and I will break his arms, both the strong and the (E)broken; and I will make the sword (F)fall from his hand. 23 And I will (G)scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the lands. 24 For I will (H)strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put (I)My sword in his hand; and I will break the arms of Pharaoh, so that he will groan before him with the groans of a wounded man. 25 So I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh will fail. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I put My sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he (J)reaches out with it against the land of Egypt. 26 When I scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the lands, then they will know that I am the Lord.’”

Pharaoh Warned of Assyria’s Fate

31 In the (K)eleventh year, in the third month, on the first of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to his (L)hordes,

‘Whom are you like in your greatness?
3 Behold, Assyria was a (M)cedar in Lebanon
With beautiful branches and forest shade,
And [c](N)very high,
And its top was among the [d]clouds.
4 The (O)waters made it grow, the [e]deep made it high.
With its rivers it continually [f]extended all around its planting place,
And sent out its channels to all the trees of the field.
5 Therefore (P)its height was loftier than all the trees of the field
And its boughs became many and its branches long
Because of (Q)many waters [g]as it spread them out.
6 All the (R)birds of the sky nested in its twigs,
And under its branches all the animals of the field gave birth,
And all great nations lived under its shade.
7 So it was beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its branches;
For its [h]roots extended to many waters.
8 The (S)cedars in (T)God’s garden [i]could not match it;
The junipers [j]could not compare with its branches,
And the plane trees [k]could not match its branches.
No tree in (U)God’s garden [l]could compare with it in its beauty.
9 I made it beautiful with the multitude of its branches,
And all the trees of (V)Eden, which were in the (W)garden of God, were jealous of it.

10 ‘Therefore this is what the Lord [m]God says: “Because [n]it is tall in stature and has put its top among the [o]clouds, and its (X)heart is haughty in its loftiness, 11 I will hand it over to a [p](Y)ruler of the nations; he will thoroughly deal with it. In accordance with its wickedness I have (Z)driven it out. 12 (AA)Foreign (AB)tyrants of the nations have cut it down and left it; on the (AC)mountains and in all the valleys its branches have fallen, and its branches have been broken in all the ravines of the land. And all the peoples of the earth have (AD)gone down from its shade and left it. 13 All the (AE)birds of the sky will nest on its fallen trunk, and all the animals of the field will [q]rest on its fallen branches, 14 so that all the trees by the waters will not be exalted in their stature, nor put their tops among the [r]clouds, nor will any of their [s]well-watered mighty ones stand straight in their height. For they have all been turned over to death, to the (AF)earth beneath, among [t]mankind, [u]with those who go down to the pit.”

15 ‘This is what the Lord God says: “On the day when it went down to Sheol I (AG)caused mourning; I closed the [v]deep over it and held back its rivers. And its many waters were stopped up, and I made Lebanon mourn for it, and all the trees of the field wilted away on account of it. 16 I made the nations (AH)quake from the sound of its fall when I made it (AI)go down to Sheol with those who go down to the pit; and all the [w]well-watered trees of Eden, the choicest and best of (AJ)Lebanon, were (AK)comforted in the earth beneath. 17 They also (AL)went down with it to Sheol to those who were (AM)slain by the sword; and those who were its [x]strength lived (AN)in its shade among the nations.

18 “To which among the trees of Eden are you so alike in glory and greatness? Yet you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the earth beneath; you will lie in the midst of the (AO)uncircumcised with those who were killed by the sword. (AP)This is Pharaoh and all his hordes!”’ declares the Lord God.”
