²¹ “But if^(A) a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees^(B) and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die.^{(C) 22} None of the offenses they have committed will be remembered against them. Because of the righteous things they have done, they will live.^{(D) 23} Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased^(E) when they turn from their ways and live?^(F)

³⁰ “Therefore, you Israelites, I will judge each of you according to your own ways, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent!^(A) Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall.^{(B) 31} Rid^(C) yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart^(D) and a new spirit. Why^(E) will you die, people of Israel?^{(F) 32} For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent^(G) and live!^(H)

¹⁶ For the Lord himself will come down from heaven,^(A) with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel^(B) and with the trumpet call of God,^(C) and the dead in Christ will rise first.^{(D) 17} After that, we who are still alive and are left^(E) will be caught up together with them in the clouds^(F) to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord^(G) forever.

¹¹ After he had said this, he went on to tell them, “Our friend^(A) Lazarus has fallen asleep;^(B) but I am going there to wake him up.”

The Day Is Near

¹¹ And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come^(A) for you to wake up from your slumber,^(B) because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

The End Times

12 “At that time Michael,^(A) the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress^(B) such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book^(C)—will be delivered.^{(D) 2} Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake:^(E) some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.^(F)
