²² But if you will carefully obey him and do everything I say, then I will be an enemy^(A) to your enemies and a foe to your foes.

Rules for War

20 “When you go out to war against your enemies and see horses, chariots, and an army larger than yours,^(A) do not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt,^(B) is with you. ² When you are about to engage in battle, the priest is to come forward and address the army.^{(C) 3} He is to say to them, ‘Listen, Israel: Today you are about to engage in battle with your enemies. Do not be cowardly. Do not be afraid, alarmed, or terrified because of them. ⁴ For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you^(D) against your enemies to give you victory.’

¹⁴ For the Lord your God walks throughout your camp to protect you and deliver your enemies to you; so your encampments must be holy. He must not see anything indecent among you or he will turn away from you.
