¹⁷ Then Jacob put his children and his wives^(A) on camels,^{(B) 18} and he drove all his livestock ahead of him, along with all the goods he had accumulated^(C) in Paddan Aram,^[a](D) to go to his father Isaac^(E) in the land of Canaan.^(F)

¹⁹ When Laban had gone to shear his sheep,^(G) Rachel stole her father’s household gods.^{(H) 20} Moreover, Jacob deceived^(I) Laban the Aramean^(J) by not telling him he was running away.^{(K) 21} So he fled^(L) with all he had, crossed the Euphrates River,^(M) and headed for the hill country of Gilead.^(N)

¹³ Then Michal took an idol^(A) and laid it on the bed, covering it with a garment and putting some goats’ hair at the head.

Idolatry Forbidden

¹⁵ You saw no form^(A) of any kind the day the Lord spoke to you at Horeb^(B) out of the fire. Therefore watch yourselves very carefully,^{(C) 16} so that you do not become corrupt^(D) and make for yourselves an idol,^(E) an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman, ¹⁷ or like any animal on earth or any bird that flies in the air,^{(F) 18} or like any creature that moves along the ground or any fish in the waters below.

The Supremacy of the Son of God
