The Mission of Moses

10 And now come, and I will send you to Pharaoh, (A)so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.” 11 But Moses said to God, “(B)Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?” 12 And He said, “Assuredly (C)I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: (D)when you have brought the people out of Egypt, (E)you shall [a]worship God at this mountain.”

13 Then Moses said to God, “Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?” 14 And God said to Moses, “[b](F)I AM WHO [c]I AM”; and He said, “This is what you shall say to the sons of Israel: ‘[d]I AM has sent me to you.’” 15 God furthermore said to Moses, “This is what you shall say to the sons of Israel: ‘(G)The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and this is the [e](H)name for [f]all generations to use to call upon Me.

11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I(C) that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”

12 And God said, “I will be with you.(D) And this will be the sign(E) to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you[a] will worship God on this mountain.(F)

13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’(G) Then what shall I tell them?”

14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am.[b] This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am(H) has sent me to you.’”

15 God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord,[c] the God of your fathers(I)—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob(J)—has sent me to you.’

“This is my name(K) forever,
    the name you shall call me
    from generation to generation.(L)
