²³But if there is any further injury, ^(A)then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life,

Exodus 21:23

New International Version

²³But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life,^(A)

²⁰^(A)fracture for fracture, ^(B)eye for eye, tooth for tooth; just as he has injured a person, so shall it be ^[a]inflicted on him.

²⁰fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth.^(A) The one who has inflicted the injury must suffer the same injury.
