Sabbath Regulations
35 Moses assembled all the congregation of the people of Israel and said to them, (A)“These are the things that the Lord has commanded you to do. 2 (B)Six days work shall be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. 3 (C)You shall kindle no fire in all your dwelling places on the Sabbath day.”
Contributions for the Tabernacle
4 Moses said to all the congregation of the people of Israel, “This is the thing that the Lord has commanded. 5 (D)Take from among you a contribution to the Lord. (E)Whoever is of a generous heart, let him bring the Lord's contribution: gold, silver, and bronze; 6 blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen; goats' hair, 7 tanned rams' skins, and goatskins;[a] acacia wood, 8 oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, 9 and onyx stones and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breastpiece.
10 “Let (F)every skillful craftsman among you come and make all that the Lord has commanded: 11 (G)the tabernacle, its tent and its covering, its hooks and its frames, its bars, its pillars, and its bases; 12 (H)the ark with its poles, the mercy seat, and the (I)veil of the screen; 13 (J)the table with its poles and all its utensils, and the (K)bread of the Presence; 14 (L)the lampstand also for the light, with its utensils and its lamps, and the (M)oil for the light; 15 (N)and the altar of incense, with its poles, (O)and the anointing oil and the (P)fragrant incense, and (Q)the screen for the door, at the door of the tabernacle; 16 (R)the altar of burnt offering, with its grating of bronze, its poles, and all its utensils, the (S)basin and its stand; 17 (T)the hangings of the court, its pillars and its bases, and the screen for the gate of the court; 18 (U)the pegs of the tabernacle and the pegs of the court, and their (V)cords; 19 the (W)finely worked garments for ministering[b] in the Holy Place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, for their service as priests.”

Everyone who is willing is to bring to the Lord an offering of gold, silver and bronze; 6 blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; 7 ram skins dyed red and another type of durable leather[a]; acacia wood; 8 olive oil(G) for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; 9 and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece.
10 “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the Lord has commanded:(H) 11 the tabernacle(I) with its tent and its covering, clasps, frames, crossbars, posts and bases; 12 the ark(J) with its poles and the atonement cover and the curtain(K) that shields it; 13 the table(L) with its poles and all its articles and the bread of the Presence; 14 the lampstand(M) that is for light with its accessories, lamps and oil for the light; 15 the altar(N) of incense with its poles, the anointing oil(O) and the fragrant incense;(P) the curtain for the doorway at the entrance to the tabernacle;(Q) 16 the altar(R) of burnt offering with its bronze grating, its poles and all its utensils; the bronze basin(S) with its stand; 17 the curtains of the courtyard with its posts and bases, and the curtain for the entrance to the courtyard;(T) 18 the tent pegs(U) for the tabernacle and for the courtyard, and their ropes; 19 the woven garments worn for ministering in the sanctuary—both the sacred garments(V) for Aaron the priest and the garments for his sons when they serve as priests.”

Preparations for Building the Temple
5 [a] Now (A)Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon when he heard that they had anointed him king in place of his father, (B)for Hiram always loved David. 2 And Solomon sent word to Hiram, 3 (C)“You know that David my father could not build a house for the name of the Lord his God (D)because of the warfare with which his enemies surrounded him, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet. 4 (E)But now the Lord my God has given me rest on every side. There is neither adversary nor misfortune. 5 And so I intend to build a house for the name of the Lord my God, (F)as the Lord said to David my father, ‘Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place, shall build the house for my name.’ 6 Now therefore command that cedars of Lebanon be cut for me. And my servants will join your servants, and I will pay you for your servants such wages as you set, for you know that there is no one among us who knows how to cut timber like the Sidonians.”
7 As soon as Hiram heard the words of Solomon, he rejoiced greatly and said, “Blessed be the Lord this day, who has given to David a wise son to be over this great people.” 8 And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, “I have heard the message that you have sent to me. I am ready to do all you desire in the matter of cedar and cypress timber. 9 My servants shall bring it down to the sea from Lebanon, and I will make it into rafts to go by sea to the place you direct. And I will have them broken up there, and you shall receive it. And you shall meet my wishes (G)by providing food for my household.” 10 So Hiram supplied Solomon with all the timber of cedar and cypress that he desired, 11 while Solomon gave Hiram 20,000 cors[b] of wheat as food for his household, and 20,000[c] cors of beaten oil. Solomon gave this to Hiram year by year. 12 And the Lord gave Solomon wisdom, (H)as he promised him. And there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty.
13 King Solomon drafted (I)forced labor out of all Israel, and the draft numbered 30,000 men. 14 And he sent them to Lebanon, 10,000 a month in shifts. They would be a month in Lebanon and two months at home. (J)Adoniram was in charge of the draft. 15 Solomon also (K)had 70,000 burden-bearers and 80,000 stonecutters in the hill country, 16 besides Solomon's 3,300 (L)chief officers who were over the work, (M)who had charge of the people who carried on the work. 17 At the king's command (N)they quarried out great, costly stones in order to lay the foundation of the house with dressed stones. 18 So Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders and (O)the men of Gebal did the cutting and prepared the timber and the stone to build the house.

Preparations for Building the Temple(A)
5 [a]When Hiram(B) king of Tyre heard that Solomon had been anointed king to succeed his father David, he sent his envoys to Solomon, because he had always been on friendly terms with David. 2 Solomon sent back this message to Hiram:
3 “You know that because of the wars(C) waged against my father David from all sides, he could not build(D) a temple for the Name of the Lord his God until the Lord put his enemies under his feet.(E) 4 But now the Lord my God has given me rest(F) on every side, and there is no adversary(G) or disaster. 5 I intend, therefore, to build a temple(H) for the Name of the Lord my God, as the Lord told my father David, when he said, ‘Your son whom I will put on the throne in your place will build the temple for my Name.’(I)
6 “So give orders that cedars(J) of Lebanon be cut for me. My men will work with yours, and I will pay you for your men whatever wages you set. You know that we have no one so skilled in felling timber as the Sidonians.”
7 When Hiram heard Solomon’s message, he was greatly pleased and said, “Praise be to the Lord(K) today, for he has given David a wise son to rule over this great nation.”
8 So Hiram sent word to Solomon:
“I have received the message you sent me and will do all you want in providing the cedar and juniper logs. 9 My men will haul them down from Lebanon to the Mediterranean Sea(L), and I will float them as rafts by sea to the place you specify. There I will separate them and you can take them away. And you are to grant my wish by providing food(M) for my royal household.”
10 In this way Hiram kept Solomon supplied with all the cedar and juniper logs he wanted, 11 and Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand cors[b] of wheat as food(N) for his household, in addition to twenty thousand baths[c][d] of pressed olive oil. Solomon continued to do this for Hiram year after year. 12 The Lord gave Solomon wisdom,(O) just as he had promised him. There were peaceful relations between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty.(P)
13 King Solomon conscripted laborers(Q) from all Israel—thirty thousand men. 14 He sent them off to Lebanon in shifts of ten thousand a month, so that they spent one month in Lebanon and two months at home. Adoniram(R) was in charge of the forced labor. 15 Solomon had seventy thousand carriers and eighty thousand stonecutters in the hills, 16 as well as thirty-three hundred[e] foremen(S) who supervised the project and directed the workers. 17 At the king’s command they removed from the quarry(T) large blocks of high-grade stone(U) to provide a foundation of dressed stone for the temple. 18 The craftsmen of Solomon and Hiram(V) and workers from Byblos(W) cut and prepared the timber and stone for the building of the temple.

14 (A)so that none of the remnant of Judah who have come to live in the land of Egypt shall escape or survive (B)or return to the land of Judah, to which they desire to return to dwell there. For they shall not return, (C)except some fugitives.”
15 Then all the men who knew that (D)their wives had made offerings to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a great assembly, all the people who lived in (E)Pathros in the land of Egypt, answered Jeremiah: 16 “As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord, (F)we will not listen to you. 17 (G)But we will do everything that we have vowed, make offerings to (H)the queen of heaven (I)and pour out drink offerings to her, (J)as we did, both we and our fathers, our kings and our officials, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, and prospered, and saw no disaster. 18 But since we left off making offerings to (K)the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything (L)and have been consumed by the sword and by famine.” 19 And the women said,[a] “When we made offerings to the queen of heaven (M)and poured out drink offerings to her, was it (N)without our husbands' approval that we made cakes for her bearing her image and poured out drink offerings to her?”
20 Then Jeremiah said to all the people, (O)men and women, all the people who had given him this answer: 21 (P)“As for the offerings that you offered in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your officials, and the people of the land, (Q)did not the Lord remember them? Did it not come into his mind? 22 (R)The Lord could no longer bear your evil deeds and (S)the abominations that you committed. (T)Therefore your land has become (U)a desolation and a waste and a curse, (V)without inhabitant, as it is this day. 23 It is because you made offerings (W)and because you sinned against the Lord and did not obey the voice of the Lord or walk in his law and in his statutes and in his testimonies (X)that this disaster has happened to you, as at this day.”
24 Jeremiah said to all the people and all the women, “Hear the word of the Lord, (Y)all you of Judah who are in the land of Egypt. 25 Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: (Z)You and your wives have declared with your mouths, and have fulfilled it with your hands, saying, ‘We will surely perform our vows that we have made, (AA)to make offerings to the queen of heaven and to pour out drink offerings to her.’ Then confirm your vows and perform your vows! 26 Therefore hear the word of the Lord, (AB)all you of Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: (AC)Behold, I have sworn by my great name, says the Lord, (AD)that my name shall no more be invoked by the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, (AE)saying, ‘As the Lord God lives.’ 27 (AF)Behold, I am watching over them for disaster and not for good. 20 Then Jeremiah said to all the people, both men and women, who were answering him, 21 “Did not the Lord remember(V) and call to mind the incense(W) burned in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem(X) by you and your ancestors,(Y) your kings and your officials and the people of the land?(Z) 22 When the Lord could no longer endure(AA) your wicked actions and the detestable things you did, your land became a curse(AB) and a desolate waste(AC) without inhabitants, as it is today.(AD) 23 Because you have burned incense and have sinned against the Lord and have not obeyed him or followed(AE) his law or his decrees(AF) or his stipulations, this disaster(AG) has come upon you, as you now see.”(AH)
24 Then Jeremiah said to all the people, including the women,(AI) “Hear the word of the Lord, all you people of Judah in Egypt.(AJ) 25 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You and your wives(AK) have done what you said you would do when you promised, ‘We will certainly carry out the vows we made to burn incense and pour out drink offerings to the Queen of Heaven.’(AL)
“Go ahead then, do what you promised! Keep your vows!(AM) 26 But hear the word of the Lord, all you Jews living in Egypt:(AN) ‘I swear(AO) by my great name,’ says the Lord, ‘that no one from Judah living anywhere in Egypt will ever again invoke my name or swear, “As surely as the Sovereign(AP) Lord lives.”(AQ) 27 For I am watching(AR) over them for harm,(AS) not for good; the Jews in Egypt will perish(AT) by sword and famine(AU) until they are all destroyed.(AV) 28 Those who escape the sword(AW) and return to the land of Judah from Egypt will be very few.(AX) Then the whole remnant(AY) of Judah who came to live in Egypt will know whose word will stand(AZ)—mine or theirs.(BA)

16 Why do you look with hatred, O many-peaked mountain,
at the mount that God (A)desired for his abode,
yes, where the Lord will dwell forever?
17 (B)The chariots of God are twice ten thousand,
thousands upon thousands;
the Lord is among them; Sinai is now in the sanctuary.
18 (C)You ascended on high,
(D)leading a host of captives in your train
and (E)receiving gifts among men,
even among (F)the rebellious, (G)that the Lord God may dwell there.
19 Blessed be the Lord,
who daily (H)bears us up;
God is our salvation. Selah
20 Our God is a God of salvation,
(I)and to God, the Lord, belong deliverances from death.
21 (J)But God will strike the heads of his enemies,
the hairy crown of him who walks in his guilty ways.

37 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” he said to Peter, “are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour? 38 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.(H) The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”(I)

15 (A)We who are strong (B)have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 (C)Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. 3 For (D)Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, (E)“The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.” 4 For (F)whatever was written in former days was written for our (G)instruction, that through endurance and through (H)the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. 5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you (I)to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, 6 that together you may with one voice glorify (J)the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.
Christ the Hope of Jews and Gentiles
8 For I tell you that Christ (K)became a servant to the circumcised to show God's truthfulness, in order (L)to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs, 9 and in order (M)that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written,
(N)“Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles,
and sing to your name.”
10 And again it is said,
(O)“Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.”
11 And again,
(P)“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles,
and let all the peoples extol him.”
12 And again Isaiah says,
(Q)(R)“The root of Jesse will come,
even he who arises to rule the Gentiles;
(S)in him will the Gentiles hope.”
13 May the God of hope fill you with all (T)joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind(G) toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify(H) the God and Father(I) of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7 Accept one another,(J) then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. 8 For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews[b](K) on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises(L) made to the patriarchs might be confirmed 9 and, moreover, that the Gentiles(M) might glorify God(N) for his mercy. As it is written:
10 Again, it says,

one who will arise to rule over the nations;
