The Covenant Renewed
10 And he said, “Behold, (A)I am making a covenant. Before all your people (B)I will do marvels, such as have not been created in all the earth or in any nation. And all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the Lord, for it is an (C)awesome thing that I will do with you.
11 “Observe what I command you this day. Behold, (D)I will drive out before you the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 12 (E)Take care, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land to which you go, lest it become a (F)snare in your midst. 13 You shall (G)tear down their altars and (H)break their pillars and cut down their (I)Asherim 14 (for (J)you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), 15 (K)lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and when they (L)whore after their gods and sacrifice to their gods and (M)you are invited, you eat of his sacrifice, 16 and you take of (N)their daughters for your sons, and their daughters (O)whore after their gods and make your sons whore after their gods.
17 (P)“You shall not make for yourself any gods of cast metal.
18 (Q)“You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in (R)the month Abib, for in the month Abib you came out from Egypt. 19 (S)All that open the womb are mine, all your male[a] livestock, the firstborn of cow and sheep. 20 The (T)firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb, or if you will not redeem it you shall break its neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. And (U)none shall appear before me empty-handed.
21 (V)“Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest. In plowing time and in harvest you shall rest. 22 (W)You shall observe the Feast of Weeks, the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the year's end. 23 (X)Three times in the year shall all your males appear before the Lord God, the God of Israel. 24 For I will (Y)cast out nations before you and (Z)enlarge your borders; (AA)no one shall covet your land, when you go up to appear before the Lord your God three times in the year.
25 (AB)“You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with anything leavened, (AC)or let the sacrifice of the Feast of the Passover remain until the morning. 26 (AD)The best of the firstfruits of your ground you shall bring to the house of the Lord your God. (AE)You shall not boil a young goat in its mother's milk.”
27 And the Lord said to Moses, “Write these words, for in accordance with these words (AF)I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.” 28 (AG)So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights. He neither ate bread nor drank water. And he (AH)wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.[b]
The Shining Face of Moses
29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with (AI)the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face (AJ)shone because he had been talking with God.[c] 30 Aaron and all the people of Israel saw Moses, and behold, the skin of his face (AK)shone, and they were afraid to come near him. 31 But Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the leaders of the congregation returned to him, and Moses talked with them. 32 Afterward all the people of Israel came near, and he (AL)commanded them all that the Lord had spoken with him in Mount Sinai. 33 And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a (AM)veil over his face.
34 Whenever Moses (AN)went in before the Lord to speak with him, he would remove the veil, until he came out. And when he came out and told the people of Israel what he was commanded, 35 the people of Israel would see the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face was (AO)shining. And Moses would put the veil over his face again, until he went in to speak with him.

10 Then the Lord said: “I am making a covenant(A) with you. Before all your people I will do wonders(B) never before done in any nation in all the world.(C) The people you live among will see how awesome is the work that I, the Lord, will do for you. 11 Obey what I command(D) you today. I will drive out before you the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.(E) 12 Be careful not to make a treaty(F) with those who live in the land where you are going, or they will be a snare(G) among you. 13 Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and cut down their Asherah poles.[a](H) 14 Do not worship any other god,(I) for the Lord, whose name(J) is Jealous, is a jealous God.(K)
15 “Be careful not to make a treaty(L) with those who live in the land; for when they prostitute(M) themselves to their gods and sacrifice to them, they will invite you and you will eat their sacrifices.(N) 16 And when you choose some of their daughters as wives(O) for your sons and those daughters prostitute themselves to their gods,(P) they will lead your sons to do the same.
17 “Do not make any idols.(Q)
18 “Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread.(R) For seven days eat bread made without yeast,(S) as I commanded you. Do this at the appointed time in the month of Aviv,(T) for in that month you came out of Egypt.
19 “The first offspring(U) of every womb belongs to me, including all the firstborn males of your livestock, whether from herd or flock. 20 Redeem the firstborn donkey with a lamb, but if you do not redeem it, break its neck.(V) Redeem all your firstborn sons.(W)
“No one is to appear before me empty-handed.(X)
21 “Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest;(Y) even during the plowing season and harvest(Z) you must rest.
22 “Celebrate the Festival of Weeks with the firstfruits(AA) of the wheat harvest, and the Festival of Ingathering(AB) at the turn of the year.[b] 23 Three times(AC) a year all your men are to appear before the Sovereign Lord, the God of Israel. 24 I will drive out nations(AD) before you and enlarge your territory,(AE) and no one will covet your land when you go up three times each year to appear before the Lord your God.
25 “Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to me along with anything containing yeast,(AF) and do not let any of the sacrifice from the Passover Festival remain until morning.(AG)
26 “Bring the best of the firstfruits(AH) of your soil to the house of the Lord your God.
“Do not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.”(AI)
27 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write(AJ) down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant(AK) with you and with Israel.” 28 Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights(AL) without eating bread or drinking water.(AM) And he wrote on the tablets(AN) the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.(AO)
The Radiant Face of Moses
29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai(AP) with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands,(AQ) he was not aware that his face was radiant(AR) because he had spoken with the Lord. 30 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. 31 But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community(AS) came back to him, and he spoke to them. 32 Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands(AT) the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai.
33 When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil(AU) over his face. 34 But whenever he entered the Lord’s presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, 35 they saw that his face was radiant.(AV) Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord.

Solomon's Wealth and Wisdom
20 Judah and Israel were as many (A)as the sand by the sea. They ate and drank and were happy. 21 [a] (B)Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the (C)Euphrates[b] to the land of the Philistines and to the border of Egypt. (D)They brought tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.
22 Solomon's provision for one day was thirty cors[c] of fine flour and sixty cors of meal, 23 ten fat oxen, and twenty pasture-fed cattle, a hundred sheep, besides deer, gazelles, roebucks, and fattened fowl. 24 For he had dominion over all the region west of the Euphrates[d] from Tiphsah to (E)Gaza, over all the kings west of the Euphrates. (F)And he had peace on all sides around him. 25 And Judah and Israel (G)lived in safety, (H)from Dan even to Beersheba, (I)every man under his vine and under his fig tree, all the days of Solomon. 26 (J)Solomon also had 40,000[e] stalls of horses for his chariots, and 12,000 horsemen. 27 And those officers supplied provisions for King Solomon, and for all who came to King Solomon's table, each one in his month. They let nothing be lacking. 28 Barley also and straw for the horses and (K)swift steeds they brought to the place where it was required, each according to his duty.
29 (L)And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding beyond measure, and breadth of mind (M)like the sand on the seashore, 30 so that Solomon's wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all (N)the people of the east (O)and all the wisdom of Egypt. 31 For he was (P)wiser than all other men, wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol, and his fame was in all the surrounding nations. 32 (Q)He also spoke 3,000 proverbs, (R)and his songs were 1,005. 33 He spoke of trees, from the cedar that is in Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of the wall. He spoke also of beasts, and of birds, and of reptiles, and of fish. 34 And people of all nations came to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and from (S)all the kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.

Solomon’s Daily Provisions
20 The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand(A) on the seashore; they ate, they drank and they were happy.(B) 21 And Solomon ruled(C) over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates River(D) to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt.(E) These countries brought tribute(F) and were Solomon’s subjects all his life.
22 Solomon’s daily provisions(G) were thirty cors[a] of the finest flour and sixty cors[b] of meal, 23 ten head of stall-fed cattle, twenty of pasture-fed cattle and a hundred sheep and goats, as well as deer, gazelles, roebucks and choice fowl.(H) 24 For he ruled over all the kingdoms west of the Euphrates River, from Tiphsah(I) to Gaza, and had peace(J) on all sides. 25 During Solomon’s lifetime Judah and Israel, from Dan to Beersheba,(K) lived in safety,(L) everyone under their own vine and under their own fig tree.(M)
26 Solomon had four[c] thousand stalls for chariot horses,(N) and twelve thousand horses.[d]
27 The district governors,(O) each in his month, supplied provisions for King Solomon and all who came to the king’s table. They saw to it that nothing was lacking. 28 They also brought to the proper place their quotas of barley and straw for the chariot horses and the other horses.
Solomon’s Wisdom
29 God gave Solomon wisdom(P) and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand(Q) on the seashore. 30 Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East,(R) and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.(S) 31 He was wiser(T) than anyone else, including Ethan the Ezrahite—wiser than Heman, Kalkol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations. 32 He spoke three thousand proverbs(U) and his songs(V) numbered a thousand and five. 33 He spoke about plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop(W) that grows out of walls. He also spoke about animals and birds, reptiles and fish. 34 From all nations people came to listen to Solomon’s wisdom, sent by all the kings(X) of the world, who had heard of his wisdom.[e]

44 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Judeans who lived in the land of Egypt, at (A)Migdol, at (B)Tahpanhes, at Memphis, and in the land of (C)Pathros, 2 “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: You have seen all the disaster that I brought upon Jerusalem and upon all the cities of Judah. Behold, this day (D)they are a desolation, and no one dwells in them, 3 because of the evil that they committed, (E)provoking me to anger, (F)in that they went to make offerings (G)and serve other gods that they knew not, neither they, nor you, nor your fathers. 4 (H)Yet I persistently sent to you all my servants the prophets, saying, ‘Oh, do not do this abomination that I hate!’ 5 (I)But they did not listen (J)or incline their ear, to turn from their evil and make no offerings to other gods. 6 (K)Therefore my wrath and my anger were poured out and kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, (L)and they became a waste and a desolation, as at this day. 7 And now thus says the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel: Why do you commit this great evil (M)against yourselves, to cut off from you (N)man and woman, (O)infant and child, from the midst of Judah, leaving you no remnant? 8 (P)Why do you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, (Q)making offerings to other gods in the land of Egypt where you have come to live, so that you may be cut off and become (R)a curse and a taunt among all the nations of the earth? 9 Have you forgotten the evil of your fathers, (S)the evil of the kings of Judah, (T)the evil of their[a] wives, your own evil, (U)and the evil of your wives, which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 10 They have not humbled themselves even to this day, (V)nor have they feared, nor walked in my law and my statutes that I set before you and before your fathers.

(Y)In the land of Egypt they shall fall; by the sword and by famine (Z)they shall be consumed. (AA)From the least to the greatest, they shall die by the sword and by famine, (AB)and they shall become an oath, a horror, (AC)a curse, and a taunt. 13 (AD)I will punish those who dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, with the sword, with famine, and with pestilence,

11 “Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty,(AO) the God of Israel, says: I am determined to bring disaster(AP) on you and to destroy all Judah. 12 I will take away the remnant(AQ) of Judah who were determined to go to Egypt to settle there. They will all perish in Egypt; they will fall by the sword or die from famine. From the least to the greatest,(AR) they will die by sword or famine.(AS) They will become a curse and an object of horror, a curse and an object of reproach.(AT) 13 I will punish(AU) those who live in Egypt with the sword,(AV) famine and plague,(AW) as I punished Jerusalem.

so the wicked shall perish before God!

they shall exult before God;
they shall be jubilant with joy!
4 Sing to God, (F)sing praises to his name;

exult before him!

is God in his holy habitation.

Do Not Cause Another to Stumble
13 (A)Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide (B)never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. 14 I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus (C)that nothing is unclean in itself, (D)but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. 15 For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, (E)you are no longer walking in love. (F)By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died. 16 (G)So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil. 17 (H)For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but (I)of righteousness and (J)peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 Whoever thus serves Christ is (K)acceptable to God and approved by men. 19 So then let us (L)pursue what makes for peace and for (M)mutual upbuilding.
20 (N)Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. (O)Everything is indeed clean, but (P)it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats. 21 (Q)It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.[a] 22 The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. (R)Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves. 23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.[b]

13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment(A) on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.(B) 14 I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself.(C) But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean.(D) 15 If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love.(E) Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died.(F) 16 Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil.(G) 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking,(H) but of righteousness, peace(I) and joy in the Holy Spirit,(J) 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.(K)
19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace(L) and to mutual edification.(M) 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food.(N) All food is clean,(O) but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble.(P) 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall.(Q)
22 So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn(R) himself by what he approves. 23 But whoever has doubts(S) is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.[a]
