¹¹ So they appointed ^(A)taskmasters over them to oppress them with ^[a](B)hard labor. And they built for Pharaoh ^(C)storage cities, Pithom and ^(D)Raamses.

⁷ And the Lord said, “I have certainly ^(A)seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their outcry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings.

¹⁰ So ^(A)the taskmasters of the people and their foremen went out and spoke to the people, saying, “This is what Pharaoh says: ‘I am not going to give you any straw.

¹³ And the taskmasters pressed them, saying, “Complete your ^[a]work quota, ^[b]your daily amount, just as when ^[c]you had straw.”

¹⁴ Moreover, ^(A)the foremen of the sons of Israel, whom Pharaoh’s taskmasters had set over them, ^(B)were beaten ^[a]and asked, “Why have you not completed your required task of making bricks either yesterday or today, as before?”
