⁸ Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people,^(A) this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles^(B) the boundless riches of Christ,^{(C) 9} and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery,^(D) which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. ¹⁰ His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God^(E) should be made known^(F) to the rulers and authorities^(G) in the heavenly realms,^(H)

¹⁷ Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood,^(A) but by my Father in heaven.^{(B) 18} And I tell you that you are Peter,^[a](C) and on this rock I will build my church,^(D) and the gates of Hades^[b] will not overcome it.

²⁸ And God has placed in the church^(A) first of all apostles,^(B) second prophets,^(C) third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing,^(D) of helping, of guidance,^(E) and of different kinds of tongues.^(F)

¹² So it is with you. Since you are eager for gifts of the Spirit,^(A) try to excel in those that build up^(B) the church.

Good Order in Worship

²⁶ What then shall we say, brothers and sisters?^(A) When you come together, each of you^(B) has a hymn,^(C) or a word of instruction,^(D) a revelation, a tongue^(E) or an interpretation.^(F) Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.^(G)

²² And God placed all things under his feet^(A) and appointed him to be head^(B) over everything for the church, ²³ which is his body,^(C) the fullness of him^(D) who fills everything in every way.^(E)
