^4 (A)even as he ^(B)chose us in him ^(C)before the foundation of the world, that we should be ^(D)holy and blameless before him. In love ^5 (E)he predestined us^[a] for ^(F)adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, ^(G)according to the purpose of his will, ^6 (H)to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in ^(I)the Beloved. ^7 (J)In him we have ^(K)redemption ^(L)through his blood, ^(M)the forgiveness of our trespasses, ^(N)according to the riches of his grace, ⁸ which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight ^9 (O)making known^[b] to us the mystery of his will, ^(P)according to his purpose, which he ^(Q)set forth in Christ ¹⁰ as a plan for ^(R)the fullness of time, ^(S)to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

¹¹ In him we have obtained ^(T)an inheritance, ^(U)having been predestined ^(V)according to the purpose of him who works all things according to ^(W)the counsel of his will, ¹² so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be ^(X)to the praise of his glory. ¹³ In him you also, when you heard ^(Y)the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, ^(Z)were sealed with the ^(AA)promised Holy Spirit, ¹⁴ who is ^(AB)the guarantee^[c] of our ^(AC)inheritance until ^(AD)we acquire ^(AE)possession of it,^{[d] (AF)}to the praise of his glory.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

¹⁵ For this reason, ^(AG)because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love^[e] toward all the saints, ¹⁶ I ^(AH)do not cease to give thanks for you, ^(AI)remembering you in my prayers, ¹⁷ that ^(AJ)the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, ^(AK)may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, ^18 (AL)having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is ^(AM)the hope to which he has called you, what are ^(AN)the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, ¹⁹ and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, ^(AO)according to the working of ^(AP)his great might ²⁰ that he worked in Christ ^(AQ)when he raised him from the dead and ^(AR)seated him at his right hand ^(AS)in the heavenly places, ^21 (AT)far above ^(AU)all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above ^(AV)every name that is named, not only in ^(AW)this age but also in the one to come. ²² And ^(AX)he put all things under his feet and gave him as ^(AY)head over all things to the church, ^23 (AZ)which is his body, ^(BA)the fullness of him ^(BB)who fills ^(BC)all in all.

¹¹ This was ^(A)according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord,

Stand Firm

¹³ But ^(A)we ought always to give thanks to God for you, ^(B)brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you ^(C)as the firstfruits^{[a] (D)}to be saved, ^(E)through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.

^9 (A)who saved us and ^(B)called us to^[a] a holy calling, ^(C)not because of our works but because of ^(D)his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus ^(E)before the ages began,^[b]

⁵ Listen, my beloved brothers, ^(A)has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be ^(B)rich in faith and heirs of ^(C)the kingdom, ^(D)which he has promised to those who love him?

² according to ^(A)the foreknowledge of God the Father, ^(B)in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and ^(C)for sprinkling with his blood:

May ^(D)grace and ^(E)peace be multiplied to you.
