Ecclesiastes 1:16-18
New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition
16 I said to myself, “I have acquired great wisdom, surpassing all who were over Jerusalem before me, and my mind has had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.”(A) 17 And I applied my mind to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is but a chasing after wind.(B)
18 For in much wisdom is much vexation,
and those who increase knowledge increase sorrow.(C)
Ecclesiastes 1:16-18
New International Version
16 I said to myself, “Look, I have increased in wisdom more than anyone who has ruled over Jerusalem before me;(A) I have experienced much of wisdom and knowledge.” 17 Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom,(B) and also of madness and folly,(C) but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind.
