¹⁷In majesty he is like a firstborn bull;
    his horns^(A) are the horns of a wild ox.^(B)
With them he will gore^(C) the nations,
    even those at the ends of the earth.
Such are the ten thousands of Ephraim;^(D)
    such are the thousands of Manasseh.^(E)”

“May the Lord bless his land
    with the precious dew from heaven above
    and with the deep waters that lie below;^(B)
¹⁴with the best the sun brings forth
    and the finest the moon can yield;
¹⁵with the choicest gifts of the ancient mountains^(C)
    and the fruitfulness of the everlasting hills;
¹⁶with the best gifts of the earth and its fullness
    and the favor of him who dwelt in the burning bush.^(D)
Let all these rest on the head of Joseph,
    on the brow of the prince among^[a] his brothers.^(E)

²⁰For it was the Lord himself who hardened their hearts^(A) to wage war against Israel, so that he might destroy them totally, exterminating them without mercy, as the Lord had commanded Moses.^(B)

²¹At that time Joshua went and destroyed the Anakites^(C) from the hill country: from Hebron, Debir^(D) and Anab,^(E) from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel. Joshua totally destroyed them and their towns. ²²No Anakites were left in Israelite territory; only in Gaza,^(F) Gath^(G) and Ashdod^(H) did any survive.

²³So Joshua took the entire land,^(I) just as the Lord had directed Moses, and he gave it as an inheritance^(J) to Israel according to their tribal divisions.^(K) Then the land had rest^(L) from war.^(M)
