New International Version

³⁰You will be pledged to be married to a woman, but another will take her and rape her.^(A) You will build a house, but you will not live in it.^(B) You will plant a vineyard, but you will not even begin to enjoy its fruit.^(C)

²²All the women^(A) left in the palace of the king of Judah will be brought out to the officials of the king of Babylon. Those women will say to you:

“‘They misled you and overcame you—
those trusted friends^(B) of yours.
Your feet are sunk in the mud;^(C)
your friends have deserted you.’

²³“All your wives and children^(D) will be brought out to the Babylonians. You yourself will not escape^(E) from their hands but will be captured^(F) by the king of Babylon; and this city will^[a] be burned down.”^(G)
