¹⁸ I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. I will put My words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him. ¹⁹ I will hold accountable whoever does not listen to My words that he speaks in My name.^(A)

The Call of Jeremiah

⁴ The word of the Lord came to me:

¹⁴ So Amos answered Amaziah, “I was^[a] not a prophet or the son of a prophet;^[b](A) rather, I was^[c] a herdsman,^(B) and I took care of sycamore figs. ¹⁵ But the Lord took me from following the flock^(C) and said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’”^(D)
