⁵ Instead, turn to the place the Lord your God chooses^(A) from all your tribes to put his name for his dwelling and go there.

³ The Lord said to him:

I have heard your prayer and petition you have made before me. I have consecrated this temple you have built, to put^[a] my name there forever;^(A) my eyes and my heart will be there at all times.^(B)

³² but one tribe will remain his for the sake of my servant David^(A) and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city I chose out of all the tribes of Israel.^(B)

³⁶ I will give one tribe^(A) to his son,^(B) so that my servant David will always have a lamp^[a] before me^(C) in Jerusalem, the city I chose for myself to put my name there.^(D)
