(A)Remember the days of old;
    consider the years of many generations;
(B)ask your father, and he will show you,
    your elders, and they will tell you.
When the Most High (C)gave to the nations their inheritance,
    when he (D)divided mankind,
he fixed the borders[a] of the peoples
    according to the number of the sons of God.[b]
But the Lord's portion is his people,
    Jacob his allotted heritage.

10 “He found him (E)in a desert land,
    and in the howling waste of the wilderness;
he (F)encircled him, he cared for him,
    he (G)kept him as the apple of his eye.

When HaElyon divided to the Goyim their nachalah, when He separated the Bnei Adam, He set the gevulot (borders) of the people according to the number of the Bnei Yisroel.

For Hashem’s chelek is His people; Ya’akov is the chevel (allotment) of His nachalah.

10 He found him in an eretz midbar, and in a barren and howling wilderness; He encircled him, He granted him discernment, He preserved him as the pupil of His eye.
