Choose Life

¹⁵ “See, ^(A)I have set before you today life and ^[a]prosperity, and death and ^[b]calamity; ¹⁶ in that I am commanding you today ^(B)to love Yahweh your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you ^(C)may live and multiply, and that Yahweh your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it. ¹⁷ But if your heart turns away and you will not listen, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, ¹⁸ I declare to you today that ^(D)you shall surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter ^[c]and possess it. ^19 (E)I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, ^(F)the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your seed, ^20 (G)by loving Yahweh your God, by listening to His voice, and ^(H)by holding fast to Him; ^(I)for ^[d]this is your life and the length of your days, ^[e]that you may live in ^(J)the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”

⁴⁶ and he said to them, “^(A)Place in your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you shall command ^(B)your sons to be careful to do, even all the words of this law. ⁴⁷ For it is not an idle word for you; indeed ^(C)it is your life. And ^(D)by this word you will prolong your days in the land, ^[a]which you are about to cross the Jordan to ^[b]possess.”

Moses to Go Up Mount Nebo

^48 (E)And Yahweh spoke to Moses that very same day, saying, ⁴⁹ “^(F)Go up to this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab ^[c]opposite Jericho, and look at the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel for a possession. ⁵⁰ Then die on the mountain where you ascend, and be ^(G)gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people, ^51 (H)because you both acted unfaithfully with Me in the midst of the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribah-kadesh, in the ^(I)wilderness of Zin, because you both did not treat Me as holy in the midst of the sons of Israel. ^52 (J)For you shall see the land at a distance, but ^(K)you shall not go there, into the land which I am giving the sons of Israel.”

⁸ “You shall also say to this people, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “Behold, I ^(A)set before you the way of life and the way of death.
