¹⁸ “Now it shall come about, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this Law on a scroll ^[a](A)in the presence of the Levitical priests. ¹⁹ And it shall be with him, and he shall read it ^(B)all the days of his life, so that he will learn to fear the Lord his God, ^[b]by carefully following all the words of this Law and these statutes, ²⁰ so that his heart will not be haughty toward his countrymen, ^(C)and that he will not turn away from the commandment to the right or the left, so that he and his sons may ^[c]live long in his kingdom in the midst of Israel.

Israel Exhorted

¹³ And you will ^(A)seek Me and find Me when you ^(B)search for Me with all your heart. ¹⁴ I will let Myself be ^(C)found by you,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will ^(D)restore your fortunes and ^(E)gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will ^(F)bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.’

^16 (A)But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. ¹⁷ For truly I say to you that ^(B)many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

¹¹ Now these people were more noble-minded than those in ^(A)Thessalonica, ^[a]for they received the word with ^[b]great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

²¹ Therefore, ^(A)ridding yourselves of all filthiness and all ^[a]that remains of wickedness, in ^[b]humility receive ^(B)the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.
