Vision of the Four Beasts

In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, (A)Daniel [a]had a dream and (B)visions of his head while on his bed. Then he wrote down the dream, telling [b]the main facts.

Daniel spoke, saying, “I saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the Great Sea. And four great beasts (C)came up from the sea, each different from the other. The first was (D)like a lion, and had eagle’s wings. I watched till its wings were plucked off; and it was lifted up from the earth and made to stand on two feet like a man, and a (E)man’s heart was given to it.

(F)“And suddenly another beast, a second, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. And they said thus to it: ‘Arise, devour much flesh!’

“After this I looked, and there was another, like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a bird. The beast also had (G)four heads, and dominion was given to it.

“After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, (H)a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, (I)and it had ten horns. I was considering the horns, and (J)there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes (K)of a man, (L)and a mouth speaking [c]pompous words.

Vision of the Ancient of Days

“I(M) watched till thrones were [d]put in place,
And (N)the Ancient of Days was seated;
(O)His garment was white as snow,
And the hair of His head was like pure wool.
His throne was a fiery flame,
(P)Its wheels a burning fire;
10 (Q)A fiery stream issued
And came forth from before Him.
(R)A thousand thousands ministered to Him;
Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him.
(S)The [e]court was seated,
And the books were opened.

11 “I watched then because of the sound of the [f]pompous words which the horn was speaking; (T)I watched till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

13 “I was watching in the night visions,
And behold, (U)One like the Son of Man,
Coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days,
And they brought Him near before Him.
14 (V)Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
That all (W)peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.
His dominion is (X)an everlasting dominion,
Which shall not pass away,
And His kingdom the one
Which shall not be destroyed.

10 (A)I was in the Spirit on (B)the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me (C)a loud voice, as of a trumpet, 11 saying, [a]“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” and, “What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches [b]which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.”

12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned (D)I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 (E)and in the midst of the seven lampstands (F)One like the Son of Man, (G)clothed with a garment down to the feet and (H)girded about the chest with a golden band. 14 His head and (I)hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and (J)His eyes like a flame of fire; 15 (K)His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and (L)His voice as the sound of many waters; 16 (M)He had in His right hand seven stars, (N)out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, (O)and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. 17 And (P)when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But (Q)He laid His right hand on me, saying [c]to me, “Do not be afraid; (R)I am the First and the Last. 18 (S)I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, (T)I am alive forevermore. Amen. And (U)I have the keys of [d]Hades and of Death.

The Great White Throne Judgment

11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face (A)the earth and the heaven fled away. (B)And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, (C)small and great, standing before [a]God, (D)and books were opened. And another (E)book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged (F)according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, (G)and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. (H)And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then (I)Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. (J)This is the second [b]death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life (K)was cast into the lake of fire.

27 and (A)has given Him authority to execute judgment also, (B)because He is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will (C)hear His voice 29 (D)and come forth—(E)those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
