6 We haven’t listened to your servants, the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our leaders, our parents, and to all the land’s people. 7 Righteousness belongs to you, my Lord! But we are ashamed this day—we, the people of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, all Israel whether near or far, in whatever country where you’ve driven them because of their unfaithfulness when they broke faith with you. 8 Lord, we are ashamed—we, our kings, our leaders, and our parents who sinned against you.

6 We have not listened(A) to your servants the prophets,(B) who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our ancestors,(C) and to all the people of the land.
7 “Lord, you are righteous,(D) but this day we are covered with shame(E)—the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered(F) us because of our unfaithfulness(G) to you.(H) 8 We and our kings, our princes and our ancestors are covered with shame, Lord, because we have sinned against you.(I)
