The Interpretation of the Vision

¹⁵ While I, Daniel, was watching the vision^(A) and trying to understand it, there before me stood one who looked like a man.^{(B) 16} And I heard a man’s voice from the Ulai^(C) calling, “Gabriel,^(D) tell this man the meaning of the vision.”^(E)

¹⁷ As he came near the place where I was standing, I was terrified and fell prostrate.^(F) “Son of man,”^[a] he said to me, “understand that the vision concerns the time of the end.”^(G)

²⁶ “The vision of the evenings and mornings that has been given you is true,^(A) but seal^(B) up the vision, for it concerns the distant future.”^(C)

⁴ And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write;^(A) but I heard a voice from heaven^(B) say, “Seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it down.”^(C)

⁵ Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land^(D) raised his right hand to heaven.^{(E) 6} And he swore^(F) by him who lives for ever and ever,^(G) who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it,^(H) and said, “There will be no more delay!^{(I) 7} But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet,^(J) the mystery^(K) of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.”^(L)

³² “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. ³³ Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it^[a] is near, right at the door.^{(A) 34} Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.^{(B) 35} Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.^(C)
