¹³ When you were dead in your sins^(A) and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you^[a] alive^(B) with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,^{(C) 14} having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness,^(D) which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.^(E)

²² But Jesus told him, “Follow me,^(A) and let the dead bury their own dead.”

⁹ As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone^(A) what you have seen, until the Son of Man^(B) has been raised from the dead.”^(C)

³¹ But about the resurrection of the dead—have you not read what God said to you, ³² ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’^[a]?^(A) He is not the God of the dead but of the living.”

²⁵ When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.^{(A) 26} Now about the dead rising—have you not read in the Book of Moses, in the account of the burning bush, how God said to him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’^[a]?^{(B) 27} He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!”

⁶⁰ Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”^(A)

³⁵ But those who are considered worthy of taking part in the age to come^(A) and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, ³⁶ and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God’s children,^(B) since they are children of the resurrection. ³⁷ But in the account of the burning bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’^{[a](C) 38} He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.”

²¹ For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life,^(A) even so the Son gives life^(B) to whom he is pleased to give it.

²⁴ “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me^(A) has eternal life^(B) and will not be judged^(C) but has crossed over from death to life.^{(D) 25} Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come^(E) when the dead will hear^(F) the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.
