El mensaje a Tiatira
18 Y escribe al ángel de la iglesia en Tiatira: El Hijo de Dios, el que tiene ojos como llama de fuego, y pies semejantes al bronce bruñido, dice esto:
19 Yo conozco tus obras, y amor, y fe, y servicio, y tu paciencia, y que tus obras postreras son más que las primeras. 20 Pero tengo unas pocas cosas contra ti: que toleras que esa mujer Jezabel,(A) que se dice profetisa, enseñe y seduzca a mis siervos a fornicar y a comer cosas sacrificadas a los ídolos. 21 Y le he dado tiempo para que se arrepienta, pero no quiere arrepentirse de su fornicación. 22 He aquí, yo la arrojo en cama, y en gran tribulación a los que con ella adulteran, si no se arrepienten de las obras de ella. 23 Y a sus hijos heriré de muerte, y todas las iglesias sabrán que yo soy el que escudriña la mente y el corazón;(B) y os daré a cada uno según vuestras obras.(C)

18 Y escribe al ángel de la iglesia en Tiatira(A):
«El Hijo de Dios(B), que tiene ojos[a] como llama de fuego(C), y cuyos pies son semejantes al bronce bruñido, dice esto: 19 “Yo conozco tus obras(D), tu amor, tu fe, tu servicio y tu perseverancia(E), y que tus obras recientes[b] son mayores que las primeras. 20 Pero tengo esto contra ti(F): que toleras a esa[c] mujer Jezabel(G), que se dice ser profetisa, y enseña y seduce a mis siervos a que cometan actos inmorales y coman cosas sacrificadas a los ídolos(H). 21 Le he dado tiempo para arrepentirse(I), y no quiere arrepentirse de su inmoralidad(J). 22 Mira, la postraré[d] en cama, y a los que cometen adulterio con ella(K) los arrojaré en gran tribulación, si no se arrepienten de las obras de ella[e]. 23 Y a sus hijos mataré con pestilencia[f], y todas las iglesias sabrán que yo soy el que escudriña las mentes[g](L) y los corazones, y os daré a cada uno según vuestras obras(M).

18 “And to the [a]angel of the church in Thyatira write,
‘These things says the Son of God, (A)who has eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet like fine brass: 19 (B)“I know your works, love, [b]service, faith, and your [c]patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first. 20 Nevertheless I have [d]a few things against you, because you allow [e]that woman (C)Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, [f]to teach and seduce My servants (D)to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. 21 And I gave her time (E)to [g]repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. 22 Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of [h]their deeds. 23 I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who (F)searches[i] the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.

Message to Thyatira
18 “And to the angel (divine messenger) of the church in [a]Thyatira write:
“These are the words of the Son of God, who has eyes [that flash] like a flame of fire [in righteous judgment], and whose feet are like burnished [white-hot] bronze:(A)
19 ‘I know your deeds, your love and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your last deeds are more numerous and greater than the first. 20 But I have this [charge] against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess [claiming to be inspired], and she teaches and misleads My bond-servants so that they commit [acts of sexual] immorality and eat food sacrificed to idols.(B) 21 I gave her time to repent [to change her inner self and her sinful way of thinking], but she has no desire to repent of her immorality and refuses to do so. 22 [b]Listen carefully, I will throw her on a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her [I will bring] into great anguish, unless they repent of her deeds. 23 And I will kill her children (followers) with [c]pestilence [thoroughly annihilating them], and all the churches will know [without any doubt] that I am He who searches the [d]minds and hearts [the innermost thoughts, purposes]; and I will give to each one of you [a reward or punishment] according to your deeds.(C)

- Revelation 2:18 Thyatira (modern Akhisar, Turkey) was famous for its dyeing and indigo trade. It was the home of Lydia, the seller of purple fabrics, who was converted under the ministry of Paul (Acts 16:14). Located in a valley, midway between Pergamum and Sardis, it was originally established as a military base by one of the generals in the army of Alexander the Great.

- Revelation 2:23 Lit kidneys, i.e. inner man. In Jewish thought, the kidneys were considered a source of wisdom (cf Ps 16:7).
