He who made the (A)Pleiades and Orion,
And (B)changes deep darkness into morning,
[a]Who also (C)darkens day into night,
Who (D)calls for the waters of the sea
And pours them out on the surface of the earth,
The (E)Lord is His name.
It is He who (F)makes destruction flash upon the strong,
So that (G)destruction comes upon the fortress.

10 They hate him who (H)rebukes in the [b]gate,
And they (I)despise him who speaks with integrity.
11 Therefore because you impose heavy [c]rent on the poor
And take a tribute of grain from them,
Though you have built (J)houses of cut stone,
Yet you will not live in them;
You have planted beautiful vineyards, yet you will (K)not drink their wine.
12 For I know your offenses are many and your sins are great,
You who are (L)hostile to the righteous and accept bribes,
And [d]turn away the poor from justice at the [e]gate.
13 Therefore at [f]such a time the prudent person (M)keeps quiet, because it is an evil time.

There are those who oppress the innocent and take bribes(M)
    and deprive the poor(N) of justice in the courts.(O)
13 Therefore the prudent keep quiet(P) in such times,
    for the times are evil.(Q)
