⁵ Philip^(A) went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there. ⁶ When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said. ⁷ For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many,^(B) and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed.^{(C) 8} So there was great joy in that city.

¹⁴ When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria^(A) had accepted the word of God,^(B) they sent Peter and John^(C) to Samaria. ¹⁵ When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit,^{(D) 16} because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them;^(E) they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.^{(F) 17} Then Peter and John placed their hands on them,^(G) and they received the Holy Spirit.^(H)

Psalm 66

For the director of music. A song. A psalm.

¹⁵ But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer^(A) to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope^(B) that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, ¹⁶ keeping a clear conscience,^(C) so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.^{(D) 17} For it is better, if it is God’s will,^(E) to suffer for doing good^(F) than for doing evil. ¹⁸ For Christ also suffered once^(G) for sins,^(H) the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.^(I) He was put to death in the body^(J) but made alive in the Spirit.^(K)

²³ Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.^(A) My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.^(B)
