Saul at Jerusalem

²⁶ And ^(A)when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and did not believe that he was a disciple. ^27 (B)But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. And he declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, ^(C)and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

⁷ But the Lord said to Samuel, ^(A)“Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have ^[a]refused him. ^(B)For^[b] the Lord does not see as man sees; for man ^(C)looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the ^(D)heart.”

⁵⁸ and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And ^(A)the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. ⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, ^(B)receive my spirit.” ⁶⁰ Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, ^(C)“Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
