Acts 7:40-53

40 saying to Aaron, (A)‘Make for us gods who will go before us. As for this Moses who led us out from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’ 41 And (B)they made a calf in those days, and offered a sacrifice to the idol and (C)were rejoicing in (D)the works of their hands. 42 But (E)God turned away and (F)gave them over to worship (G)the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets:
(H)“‘Did you bring to me slain beasts and sacrifices,
(I)during the forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
43 You took up the tent of (J)Moloch
and the star of your god Rephan,
the images that you made to worship;
and I will send you into exile beyond Babylon.’
44 “Our fathers had (K)the tent of witness in the wilderness, just as he who spoke to Moses (L)directed him to make it, according to the pattern that he had seen. 45 Our fathers in turn (M)brought it in with Joshua when they (N)dispossessed the nations (O)that God drove out before our fathers. So it was (P)until the days of David, 46 (Q)who found favor in the sight of God and (R)asked to find a dwelling place for (S)the God of Jacob.[a] 47 But it was (T)Solomon who built a house for him. 48 (U)Yet the Most High does not dwell (V)in houses made by hands, as the prophet says,
49 (W)“‘Heaven is my throne,
(X)and the earth is my footstool.
What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord,
or what is the place of my rest?
50 Did not my hand make all these things?’
51 (Y)“You stiff-necked people, (Z)uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. (AA)As your fathers did, so do you. 52 (AB)Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who announced beforehand the coming of (AC)the Righteous One, (AD)whom you have now betrayed and murdered, 53 you who received the law (AE)as delivered by angels and (AF)did not keep it.”

40 εἰπόντες τῷ Ἀαρών· Ποίησον ἡμῖν θεοὺς οἳ προπορεύσονται ἡμῶν· ὁ γὰρ Μωϋσῆς οὗτος, ὃς ἐξήγαγεν ἡμᾶς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου, οὐκ οἴδαμεν τί [a]ἐγένετο αὐτῷ. 41 καὶ ἐμοσχοποίησαν ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις καὶ ἀνήγαγον θυσίαν τῷ εἰδώλῳ, καὶ εὐφραίνοντο ἐν τοῖς ἔργοις τῶν χειρῶν αὐτῶν. 42 ἔστρεψεν δὲ ὁ θεὸς καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς λατρεύειν τῇ στρατιᾷ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καθὼς γέγραπται ἐν βίβλῳ τῶν προφητῶν·
Μὴ σφάγια καὶ θυσίας προσηνέγκατέ μοι ἔτη τεσσεράκοντα ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, οἶκος Ἰσραήλ; 43 καὶ ἀνελάβετε τὴν σκηνὴν τοῦ Μολὸχ καὶ τὸ ἄστρον τοῦ [b]θεοῦ [c]Ῥαιφάν, τοὺς τύπους οὓς ἐποιήσατε προσκυνεῖν αὐτοῖς. καὶ μετοικιῶ ὑμᾶς ἐπέκεινα Βαβυλῶνος.
44 Ἡ σκηνὴ τοῦ μαρτυρίου ἦν τοῖς πατράσιν ἡμῶν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, καθὼς διετάξατο ὁ λαλῶν τῷ Μωϋσῇ ποιῆσαι αὐτὴν κατὰ τὸν τύπον ὃν ἑωράκει, 45 ἣν καὶ εἰσήγαγον διαδεξάμενοι οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν μετὰ Ἰησοῦ ἐν τῇ κατασχέσει τῶν ἐθνῶν ὧν ἐξῶσεν ὁ θεὸς ἀπὸ προσώπου τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν ἕως τῶν ἡμερῶν Δαυίδ· 46 ὃς εὗρεν χάριν ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ᾐτήσατο εὑρεῖν σκήνωμα τῷ [d]θεῷ Ἰακώβ. 47 Σολομῶν δὲ οἰκοδόμησεν αὐτῷ οἶκον. 48 ἀλλ’ οὐχ ὁ ὕψιστος ἐν [e]χειροποιήτοις κατοικεῖ· καθὼς ὁ προφήτης λέγει· 49 Ὁ οὐρανός μοι θρόνος, [f]ἡ δὲ γῆ ὑποπόδιον τῶν ποδῶν μου· ποῖον οἶκον οἰκοδομήσετέ μοι, λέγει κύριος, ἢ τίς τόπος τῆς καταπαύσεώς μου; 50 οὐχὶ ἡ χείρ μου ἐποίησεν ταῦτα πάντα;
51 Σκληροτράχηλοι καὶ ἀπερίτμητοι [g]καρδίαις καὶ τοῖς ὠσίν, ὑμεῖς ἀεὶ τῷ πνεύματι τῷ ἁγίῳ ἀντιπίπτετε, ὡς οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν καὶ ὑμεῖς. 52 τίνα τῶν προφητῶν οὐκ ἐδίωξαν οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν; καὶ ἀπέκτειναν τοὺς προκαταγγείλαντας περὶ τῆς ἐλεύσεως τοῦ δικαίου οὗ νῦν ὑμεῖς προδόται καὶ φονεῖς [h]ἐγένεσθε, 53 οἵτινες ἐλάβετε τὸν νόμον εἰς διαταγὰς ἀγγέλων, καὶ οὐκ ἐφυλάξατε.
